I found the thread and request 4 pcs. I don't have time to read the entire thread this morning, but will tonight after work.
This looks like fun!

Yes. I think you can shoehorn it into any place you would
use an N channel power Mosfet, and I expect (but don't
guarantee) lower distortion for every case.

Mr. Pass, lower distortion aside, do they have their own signature sound? I don't know if such a thing even exists for other gain devices.
In simple circuits, I think low distortion has its own signature,
probably by virtue of comparison with other simple circuits
that have higher distortion.
I think it sounds like a fine amplifier, but more relaxed than
your average solid state.

Due to only N devices avaible today, my first application is in a circlotron topology with gain.
Other good usage for me is in circuit as F xx or as Zen xx together Vfets, but in this moment i have some doubt about which devices to use as main voltage amplifier and which to use as CCS. 😕

Yes, some iteration of the BA-1 would be great as I prefer balanced signal path most of the way to the speakers...Nelson's J2 circuit has elements of the Aleph-J and BA-1 from what I see.
Can't be too wrong to start somewhere around their. will ask cviller at BA-3 what's going on with those front end boards. 😀
Maybe a circlotron output to try that with FETs 'cause it can sound awesome with tubes (check Atma-sphere).
I just wrote e-mail to them ,saying that Papa allowed my asking for free samples,50 pcs .
shipping costs on them , off course .......
now I'll investigate where da vacuum is placed in that critters ......

Does this mean Semisouth will be open to selling the damn things to us diyers?
I thought exactly the same thing when I read the article!

Yes, I know of the group buy. I bet after the reviews of J2 are out, they'll triple the price and sell it.
Nice article! Does this mean that a semiconductor this valuable will be around for awhile? We'll have amazing DIY projects.
Quoting the news article...
If only they knew what we're actually doing with these ...
SiC is an emerging semiconductor technology enabling energy efficient operation of power conversion and power management in telecom power supplies, inverters in solar and high-frequency welding, future automotive electric vehicle platforms, and many other products. The promise of SiC is its ability to make power supplies and power inverters up to 75% more energy efficient, operate at up to eight times higher frequencies, run cooler and be physically much smaller. For example, SiC power JFETs are expected to increase the 'fuel' efficiency of hybrid electric vehicles and help make them more affordable.

Reading that press release leads me to believe that these Jfets will one day be everywhere. In audio amplifiers, it will just be in really high-end stuff for now. I might expect an initial bump in price once demand takes off. Better get yours now or wait 5 years.....

Amp for the new Power J-Fets
I put my text here again, because I think ist is a better thread
Thinking about a new challenge for this kind of J-Fets, I have stopped at Jan Diddens home page.
He has rebuild the L'audiophile design "Nemesis"
http://www.linearaudio.nl/nemesis-1.htm
In my opinion this could be a new challenge for the new J-Fets?
How does the "new nemesis" sound?
Maybe Mr. Didden will give us some more information?
happy weekend to all
