I've love to see plans for the SEAS Balder.

SEAS definitely have some designs for DIYers that are not shown on their website. In fact the kit section hasn't been updated for years IIRC.

I have plans for the SEAS Bifrost. It's a SEAS designed vented 2 way with the new W18NX001 (7" Nextel) and T29CF002 (Crescendo)

I too, wonder if I can share it...

Hey Gilly,

Damping materials - were you able to source these in NZ? (ie. the 5mm sound deadening material - what is it?, acousta stuff and acoustic foam).

Also - what aare your listening impressions? Are you able to measure and post some graphs?

Cheers,
David.

Hi heres the site for the sound proofing. www.forman.co.nz

The first layer=Acoustop dBX is a synthetic rubber mass loaded barrier used to add extra mass or hung as a barrier curtain for increased transmission loss and noise reduction. Available with a scrim backing or foil facing.

The second layer is called studio foam .It comes form the same place but I can not find it on there site.

Acousta-Stuf I cant find in NZ I get it from Madisound

Listening impressions

Where do I start? I'll compare them to my Seas Thor speakers which I have been listening to for over a year.

First thoughts, very dynamic, lots of mid range and very open.
The sound stage is huge and speaker placement is not fussy.
After a couple of days I need to tweek the mid and tweeter levels a tiny bit but I new this would be the case because I used bigger gauge coils than the xover specified.
Tweeter = It is the same as the Thor but its better in this setup. I put this down to the caps and maybe the xover, its a bit higher.
Mid = So nice, what more can I say. The thors are lacking in comparison.
Bass = Warm, tight, low. A friend described it as musical.
Over all happy happy happy ! They dont miss a thing. Open but not fatigueing, you hear every little string fade, the bass is powerfull. I had no idea what I was missing. So many cds and dvds to listen to all over again what a terrible job 😀
