SEAS A26 Speaker Kit

"(...) air quality issue, woofer moving air in/out rapidly……do you smoke in the house, use a woodstove, or fry alot?"

Hi Bob.

Definitely not. No smoking ever, all electric appliances with a good exhaust fan for the few occasion I stir fry, and a well-filtered forced-air heating system. And it is the back of the sound system that faces the outside window.

As I wrote, this is weird. I think that the woofer surround touches the fabric during bass notes, by the way.

Anyway, this would only be a big deal if I wanted to sell them. And yes, they sound a tad bit better naked. But I was wondering if I was the only one, or if I did something wrong during assembly...

My guess is there's something in that batch of latex surrounds that's off-gassing in the direction of the grille, or that batch of grille fabric isn't as colorfast as others. But what to do? Have you asked Madisound, maybe they'd replace the grilles?
