Hi Ashoke
I do have 15" and 18" cast frames , cones and spiders. These r ment for pro audio gear.
Cones are of paper with rolled cloth edge. I also have 2"to 4" edge wound voice coils if u require.

hey, i've been looking everywhere for soft parts for subwoofers. do you or anyone else who reads this know of a place i can get them at.
actually everything from dust caps to the voice coil wire.
i just want to mess around and see if i can make my own subwoofer.

For wires, gaskets etc RS and Parts Express tent sale are places to look for.
For cones , surrounds and spiders -
http://www.speakerworks.net/kits.html
http://www.simplyspeakers.com/
http://www.decware.com/newsite/foams.htm ( expensive )
I do also have a few 10" , 12" ( paper ) and 15" PP subwoofer cones left over from my sub project. Mail me if interested.
good luck with your sub project.

so even if i buy these parts and put them together. how do i know all the ts parameters of the subwoofer.
Before u start to assemble a subwoofer u should atleast know what ts values to aim for. Like for a sub Vas , Qts , Fs etc, etc. Then u have to buy parts ( spiders , cones, magnet and others )keeping these values in mind. After u have finished with the actual assembly u have to measure the ts parameters. For that u need a signal generator , an ac voltmeter, a small amplifier, a few resistors etc or u can buy the Woofer tester from Dyatone available at Parts Express ( i bought mine from PE ). But u need a computer to use the woofer tester....
i looked all through those websites and PE as well and found no voice coils. maybe i'm just blind or something.
Hi
You won't find voice coils in those sites. Instead u have to buy solid enameled copper wire and wound your own voice coil. If that is too much let me know what kind of voice coil u have in mind, ie. 2" or 2.5" or 3", of what length. Generally its better to wound your own coils because u need to have accurate measurments of the pole piece, top plate and a few other things...

sorry for all the noob questions but i know very little about buioding a speaker. but i need a little more information before i can get started with my project. what material is the voice coil copper wire wrapped around. what awg of copper wire to use and what kind of glues/ epoxy to use to hold everything together.
Dear jbaidwan
The coil is wound on a former, who's material depends on factors like power handling, weight, general availablity etc. etc. Kapton or aluminium or copper or fiberglass sheets can be used to wound coils on. Al and Cu are good conductors ( conduct heat away from the coil faster) and cheaper than kapton and fiberglass.
What awg depends on various factors like coil impedence, coil length, coil wattage etc... I use 27 awg for my 2" subwoofer coil which is 40mm in length and gives a Lin X max of 15.5mm one side.
Glue is generally some kind of epoxy adhesive ( 50% Hardner 50% Resine ) . Different makes are available , i use a locktite variant.

First let me tell u there are two diff models in those pictures
1) with brass phase plug --- BP ( i use them personally )
2) with aluminium phase plug --- AL ( made for a friend of mine )
The BP is the high end version of the two. The basket and the motor structure are machined by me at my home workshop. Its more of a midrange / mid bass driver with more emphasis on midrange clarity and low noise.
The basket of the AL version is bought from the local market and is a stamped steel varity ( made for someone who wanted a cheaper driver ). This driver is more of a low mid bass driver.
The BP costs Rs2500 each, and the AL cost Rs1500 each. For details u can call me at 9810121310 or skype me at sumitdutta77.
