Any schematic available for a 211 SE amp with 801a as driver, so just a 2 tube design. Couldn't find a similar thread or schematic on the net. Much thanks!

Can you, please, send the SPICE file? Thanks801a (gain: 8) unable to drive 211 without some "help".
211 grid requires 140-150Vpp swing (depends of B+ and operating point) to A1 (about 16W at 10-12k OPT).
If you use -good- 1:4 SUT before 801a (and interstage to 211), the requiring input volume exceeds 2.1-2.2 VRMS.

Your line preamplifier would need to have higher gain. Thanks! so the exceeding volume is do-able?
i use a TVC . my phono has already so much gain and so does the CD player. With my 2a3 amp i can not go past 9 o clock on the volume
would it be possible (maybe this is a stupid question) to set the amp in a way it can work with different brands of 211's? (there's a lot of choice)
If the different brands tubes are similar -not exactly "standard" GE 211/VT-4C compatible, but similar- and possible to set desired operating point (variable bias voltage), and the driver has enough headroom to serve -a little- different grid swing requirement, it would be possible.
I changed this to 801 / 845 SE dual monoblock. Currently working out the power supply with 83 Mercury rectifiers
Unfortunately the mu of the 845 is 5 instead of 12 (211). So you'll need more drive.
i'm open to any suggestion, that is in fact the nature of my posting here... 🙂
judging from the graphic i didn't even expect it to be this linear to be honest

Motorbreath, what is your goal in using a 211 or 845? Maybe if we new your thought process we could help you in a more efficient way?
i would like to try any of the big triodes, and see if the tone such an amp produces matches my taste 110%. Part experiment(Tungsten filament triodes related), part also to find a "definitive" amp. Dunno if that answers your question.
Possibly some directly heated tubes meant for class B service could drive the 211 or 845.
