My gainclone outperforms my Denon AVR 1803.

Absolutely normal.

I just think i'm going to have to buy a better Denon, perhaps a 3800 series will do !

No, I don't think so.
I've seen a Marantz SR-9300 top of the range receiver without the lid (on an audio show !!!).
It is cramped with tons of very bad op-amps, tens of boards, lowsy assembling.
I don't know why a mid-range denon would be better than this.
Don't compare an AV receiver with a GC, because they have nothing in common.
One of them was not made for music.:dead:

I know now, but i never believed it until i heard it. I always thought that most of you guys were exaggerating, because when you build something yourself, your opinion is coloured.

Have you ever seen the inside of a mid-range Denon receiver ? The GC only uses a couple of mass-produced €3,- chips, so i don't understand what you are trying to say. :whazzat:

I know, very different type of amps, my point is that i really didn't expect the GC to be that good.

I've been inside, and listened extensively (at home) to a Denon PMA2000 integrated stereo amp.
It looks quite impressive but sincerely, it sounds horrible.
And it costs around 1,500€.:bawling:

I like these chips because they sound very good, otherwise I wouldn't loose my time and money with them, I would go and buy a commercial amp and that's it.
But I've got to the conclusion long ago that I have no money to buy a commercial amp that satisfies me.
I'm sorry to disappoint you, but as AV amps go, and if you like to listen to music, stay out of that.
I think this is a good advice.

Yeah! This has been my conclusion also. I learned this already when I setup my first regulated IGC music system 6 months ago. 😀

But only after spending so much money on so called rated AV. :bawling:

I dont need to learn the 2nd time around. 😎

Ok, got the fixed +-15V regs today, now i think i have all the parts i need to make this amp i'v dubbed the CC - Carlos Clone.

cant wait to hear it!:cannotbe:
just hope i didn't **** up on the rectifiers or anything else i should know..🙄

Carlos: how important is having the snubber close to the power wires?
