It is not hard to get the braces and internal pieces perfect, and get a solid contact along the entire length.

Simply cut the braces and the front and rear baffles to the same width using the same setting on the table saw (or simlilar). After glueing on the sides (you should not need screws), you can trim any excess off with a router trimmer (Shear Cutting Flush Trim Bits - Rockler Woodworking Tools ). If you do not want to look at the joins from the front, then add some veneer, ply, MDF or natural wood to the front and trim the edges with the trimmer again. This method will get you exact and seamless edges everytime.

Why not build a full range planar using neo magnets no need for a crossover, or a cabinet very simple wood cutting . You can even hang them from the ceiling. You can cover them with any material as long as it is stretchy, including holographic material, which looks great in sunlight or electric light.
