I intend trying a pair of Negative shunts connected in series to get a dual polarity supply.
These will ALL use ONLY Nchannel FETs (both jFETs and mosFETs).

This needs lots of Negative shunts.

I would like to propose a small change in the PCB layout to allow some or all of the positive shunt PCBs to be easily converted to negative shunts?

Any comments?

The small change, to allow this universal +ve/-ve use, is to the Q2, Q3, Q5 solder pads.

The existing pads for these three jFETs are 3pads in line with two of them shorted.

I propose a 4pads inline, with the outer shorted to the inner and and again for the other outer and inner.
i.e. pads 1 & 2 shorted, pads 3 & 4 shorted. This uses just 0.05inch of extra PCB space across each of the jFETs.

The disadvantage of this is that builders will need guidance to which of the 4holes must be used to fit the 3leg transistor.

It's a good idea for advanced diyers but can be a serious trouble for beginners diyers.

My opinion I left as is.

AndrewT, sounds like a good idea. I think for something of this scale a prototype should be run and tested by someone with above-average test gear before this gets shipped to the rather large number of individuals signed up on the previous page.

what's the advantage of using complementary parts to from a negative supply? I mean, if you have a low noise positive supply, does it magically become less so if you invert output polarity?

Yes,it´s wery sad,therefore I think it´s better for both you and us if you could sent the boards so that we can follow them (on the web) from you to the different postoffices,to us so we can se where they are and where they get´s lost.
I dont know what its called in your country,in Sweden it´s called "Rekomenderat"It might cost a dollar or 2 more but I think it´s worth it.

These boards look too close together to cut apart never mind be pre routered for easy separation as in the example in post 178. Does anyone else see the desirability of being able to separate the individual regulators?

posts 11 & 12 tell us the PCBs are Vcut.

I think he means that we simply break them apart.
