Never install a chip liveI assume as usual, this should NOT be done with pre switched on, right?
That's because you guys matched them! So power down before 8 leg instal?0.936V across each 10R is 93.6mA output stage bias. Pretty close to 100mA nominal I would say. More impressive is the closeness between channels. Very good Mosfets matching.
I assumed that would be the case. I will let it burn a little while. Just rechecked, one drifter to about 3 mV, other 1.5. Back to zeroish and warm more.Never install a chip live
I will report back as soon as I install and re fire unit.
Thanks,
Russellc
Still warming, seems to have hit the mark at 90ish degree F right on the mosfets, sink is slightly warm.
Still have a small amount of signal wiring, maybe first sounds tonight. Rechecking, it drifts a couple of mV after a bit more I will power down and install AD unit and go at it again.Lookin’ good Russellc! Music is soon…

A few mV still on rails, waiting a bit more. AD823 oriented with "divot" on back of device pointing towards the relay once rails hit 0 V.
Taking a while to drain off last 8-10mV......

AD823 installed fired back up. immediately reading of .8 mA and .7mA, see if it improves, seems decent enough.

Mainly under 1 mV. It has No signal wiring from inputs or outputs on board. Dont know if this would have any effect or not, I guess I will find out!

Not an issue at all, excellent actually.Upon warming up, offset seems to drift from .4 to 1.6 mV on both sides.
Don’t sweat it and move on to the next task…..
No....I think I want the Hana, but the AT moving coil is the price buster. I need to finish this pre, redo another pre, finish Sissy sit, parts boxes for Diy F7, another Aleph J to finish, and just bought outputs for Zenmods Babble fish take on XA 25, once boards become available. There's also a box with parts for balanced BA3, here's another phono pre I had forgotten about.....Oh, a almost (for a few years now) AR turntable. Basically all the parts from my old one that were replaced with Merrill Mods. I bought a new wood base off Ebay, just like mine except maple instead of walnut. Installed all the parts! Added a tone arm and a few of the Merrill mods, extended posts and Linn springs, Merrill arm board, pully. It needs a power supply. I've been meaning for about a decade to get Merrill power supply, then I can transplant the existing one to it.You will. By the way did you decide on that new cartridge for your turntable yet?
Once this pre is done, and some SIT amp, (which ever one, Zen's got several going) I may take a break to listen, then the cartridge might slip ahead of some of these other projects. In the mean time, the SAE MC is going to have to suffice. Only others on hand are an Ortofon OM 30 and a Shure V15Vxmr and a few NOS stylus for it. Ok, but limited deluxe compared to what is available today. Oh.....here's a set of four Sony Vfets....

Not quite there. Got all wiring done and remembered the I-select needs power. Nuts, to get to bottom of PS board to tap dc I have to remove it, and that requires me to take apart an extended selector switch rod, mount and so forth. Tonight perhaps. All other wiring is done.
I thought of temporarily hooking it to AC side, but those taps are A/C, 0, A/C. I am thinking for it to function even temporarily, it needs to be on the + side of a power supply. I do have the parts on the I-select to allow for A/C, even though at end of the day, they won't be needed.
It's always something!

Say, looking at this thing, I think I could get a listen tonight. (dont have sufficient time this evening to undo and redo power supply board to power I-select.) Looking this thing over I see an output on the I-Select board just behind the volume pot pad labeled "output." If I run the R, L, to two rca jacks, tie the RCA ground tabs together and run it back to the I-select
ground on this "output" I do believe this would work, like a single input preamp. Will that output be controlled by the volume pot, or am I off base here?
