S/PDIF to toslink

It may seem a little strange question to ask, but is it as easy as a resistor and an LED?

I'm wanting to get toslink output available on my car pc, but it currently only has s/pdif. I've seen a few sites saying just a red led and a 100-120ohm r is fine.

Thats great. The question is now, how do i raise 'standard' spdif to TTL level?

Torx has shown answers for the opposite conversion (optical to spdif) but none so far for the other way.

Would something like this be suitable?
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

After some more searching and fiddling i found that the source was converted from ttl to spdif.

So I will just tap off prior to this source and attach a red LED and resistor and try it.

I'll post up my findings 🙂

Not sure if any tom-dick-harry LED can handle that high a frequency, but TOSLINK transmitters are cheap.
