On my last PE shipment ordered the parts I needed to finalize the xo on the plywood set.
Would really hate to do a blind test on these, they are about the same - crazy bass, great imaging, really lay back sound and easy to listen to.
All thanks to Jay for working on the xo's, really outstanding!!
I saw on the PE forum they are calling these "the crazy little woofer" I'll give that one

We watched Skyfall last night with the black pair - hard to remember there's only 2 speakers in the room.
Going well, although other home projects are popping up though. Picked up some HD 3/4 plywood for one of those projects, almost $50 for a sheet 😱 had to offload half a stack to find a sheet without huge knots.
The HD fellow said they get shipments of maple plywood now and then; contractors load up on it at $30 a sheet.

Some may remember this pair from post 9 - 2 pairs glued together. They really were not alined very well, pretty hopeless.
Used a trick from drywall finisher, common drywall "mud" will stick to most anything - skimmed these out a couple of times with USG and then some small point up, sanded with high power work light.
This is oil paint spayed, always thought this was a good ploy, pretty easy for the most part.

Not sure if this will be of any help but I thought I'd throw it out the anyway.
I used a pair of the rs28fs for a tl mini monitor along with a pair of peerless 830874 6 1/2s
The only thing I needed to do to them was pad them down about 4 db. Sweet sounding tweeter. I consider them a great value.

no no good stuff... I been thinking about expanding my horizons and trying other drivers.
As my buddy says "the SF's are a great woofer for the money" but there are better drivers. The good thing about the SF is they don't move a lot of air, so not much chance of chuffing.

Well I'm not quite sure about the objection but anyone can say that about anything. That Mustang GT is a great car but the Lamborghini is better. Comparatively speaking the rs28f is being used because I couldn't afford the Hiquphons that are almost 3 times the price. I've heard the Hiqs and the rs holds it's own against them.
I may have to loan him a pair of the flare boxes to take home - these really grow on you after a while.
The other night thought I heard Thunder OR a 1812 Black Powder Cannon outside, repeated the track several times, it was in the speakers and the volume was not very high/loud.
Going to have the RS28 back in boxes soon, maybe today. Yes that is a interesting tweeter; super strong magnet, it can move wrenches/screws 2" - 3" away.

Success for the most part, lovely sound speakers, nice wide range; the wife and I thought these are the best so far, and found it hard to pull away to do other things.
The tweeter circuit may need tweaking; they just don't have the "openness" of the SB29 and the ScanSpeak D26. The tweeters are working well and trying hard to please, they need a little something.
Wool.....going to remove 1oz, to 7.5oz per side/box.

Thanks,
That's a great price.
Not sure why yours aren't sounding open. Mine are crossed at 28k Where do you have yours crossed at?

Rich,
1,500 looks like; sim on post #16
I made a few adjustments: removed wool (now 7oz) and changed series resistor to 3.9 (was 4.7ohm) Also dug out second BX990 amp and bridged two of them.
Sounds totally different: brighter, powerful, whole new ball game.

That's quite low. I should tell you that I'm no crossover genius but if I am correct, the change of the resistor just increased the output but the xo point remained the same. That makes sense to me. When I padded mine down, i went through 3 different levels before I settled on 4 db. At 6 db they were pretty much as you described and 4 db was just right as Goldylocks would say. I'm glad you like them.
Yes correct, just the output/balance.
As you know, that's a hefty tweeter, haven't heard any cone breakup; in any event, I think it will hold up longer than the woofers.

Rich, maybe you can expand on your xo?
Do you have a diagram?
I do need to get these back on the bench and see whats working and/or not working (check what I can).
