RS driver help

hi all. i was wondering if anyone might have so info on a particular radio shack driver; it's an RS 40-1265 full range speaker.

was hoping someone would have the t/s parameters for this model.

I have the 1998 catalog, but all it says is that it's a 6"X 9", 12/35 W, with a 10 oz magnet. That's it. It has a picture of it, (it has a whizzer), for what that is worth.

Sold as auto speakers, I am surprised it's listed as 8 ohm..

those are also the same specs i got from the radio shack site.

was hoping to get the t/s parameters though. 🙁

you guys think this would make a decent mltqwt project? or should i relegate it to the dustbin?

By any chance, do you have a calibrated microphone or a radio shack SPL meter?

Because if you do, there are charts which have correction factors for the various Radio Shack SPL meter models. With that and a freeware tone generator available online, you can measure Qts, Fs very easily. Vas can be measured with a small box.

Nenoshi and Jayqjay:

On your computers, do each of you have a sound card with a SPEAKER OUT-that is, a sound card that can drive a set of speakers directly? Or do you require an intermediate amp to drive a set of 8 ohm speakers?

Some sound cards have that SPEAKER OUT capability-mine has 4 watts into 8 ohms-but other sound cards do not. Which one are each of you?

Because I plan on posting some quick-and-dirty ways to measure some Thiele-Small measurments-a little easier than the conventional ways. But I have to know if your sound card has the capability to drive 8 ohm speakers directly.

hi kw, sorry for the confusion buy nenoshi and jaygjay are one and the same person 🙂 (a case of a misplaced password).

i've only tried using computer speakers on my pc (no experience using hi-fi speakers with it yet).

if it's gonna be any help, i'm attaching the settings of my sound card (just in case it might help determine if my sound card has that capability.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
