It's a problem and has to be found. There are only a few components in the drive circuit for that FET. It should be easy to find the fault. You should also check the output of the driver transformer if you don't find any other defective components.
Perry I found the problem in the drive circuit. R416 was reading 4k and should be a 10ohms. My drive signal is back to where it should be. I reconnected the HV and now I can adjust gain into clipping with no problems. Thank you telling me to check the drive circuit without HV connected. I never thought of that! You have just gave a very valuable aid to add to my toolbox! Go Perry...........
