REV33: Here's some snake oil for you to sink your teeth into

Most rock guitarists have to employ someone to tune and setup their guitars. I could also swamp you with anecdotes from interviews that show that Brian May is an extreme outlier (along with Coxy).
Ever seen inside the likes of KISS or GNR or others guitar road cases ?...thought not.
Pro bands employ guitar techs because the artists simply do not have time to do it themselves.
Guitar techs restring, tune and maintain racks of guitars, and while one song is being played, they are tuning the particular guitar needed for the next song.

I spent a whole week with Neil Young's guitar techs, and I am regularly working with these kind of guys, they know their stuff.
Behind The Scenes | Slash's guitar tech, Ace | Guns N' Roses | Moshcam

So this magic dodad will do nothing even if it did something except in the case of horrendously distorted amplifers, in which case the problem is somewhere else.
I said Talkback, not Monitors.

You're invited to participate. 😀 We did a pretty good job with the Synergistic Research HOT until the forum where we documented this removed those posts and edited others (SR is apparently one of their advertisers).

Well they're not advertisers here. So we can document it all here.

I hope I finally hear back from John Mamone. Sent him a friend request on Facebook, a message in Messenger, and a message on his band's website.

"Well, lo and behold! As suspected, it's a headphone jack!!!!! You can't possibly tell me that there's some magical technology happening inside this thing. It doesn't have any amazing components inside that, amazingly without any electricity, do anything to improve stereo spread, dynamics, or control distortion."

That seems to indicate that it's just two headphone jacks wired together, but oddly enough not everything you read on the Internet is true. No, really! 😀

By the way, I heard back from Tyll. He's willing to run tests and measurements on this thing using some actual in-ear 'phones. Since you have to specify the make/model when you order the REV33 so they can send you the right version, I'll coordinate with Tyll as to what he has on hand so we order the right version.

Yup - as per my anecdote, peeking and what you *think* you hear rules even with very talented guitarists...

How much are we short of cash now? $19 I think, to get to $139? I'll sub that!

Thanks!

Let me hear back from Tyll so I'll know which unit to order and then I'll start collecting funds. I'll arrange to have it ordered by a third party so they won't be able to refuse the sale.

By the way, I finally heard back from John Mamone. He stated that what he saw in addition to the headphone jacks was a couple of wire coils and a circuit board connecting them. So apparently it's not just a straight feed through. He wasn't interested in providing any photos suggesting that I crack one open for myself and that he didn't want to be contacted any further on the matter.

Oh, and for some reason he was of the notion that I was somehow connected with REV33. Not sure where that came from, but aside from some clarification on what he saw when he cracked his open, we're on our own.
