The measurement will tell you if the noise/hum is in the amplifier or in the connection/source.Here comes dumb questions.
What will that do for me?
What should I use to do the measurement?
How should I do the measurement?
Use a DMM set to 199.9mVac to measure the output noise/hum when the input is shorted. Don't use your ears to measure.
Thanks.
This is what I have thought for a long time. But not until I see the discussion does it occur to ask for confirmation.
Its one of those things that's not very easy visualise.
