So when does the BIII consume 440 mA and how did you control that?

I used 1R between the reg & BIII

1,091 Vout with BIII connected, without IC8 controller and all DIP switches ON😡

Raise current limit on the reg a little at at time then. Shut down inbetween. Its either that or some heavy oscillation with local regs on the BIII

Changing BIII DIP configuration:

SW1
OFF 1,2,3,4,6, 8
ON 5,7

SW2
OFF 1,2,3,4,5,6,7
ON 8

BIII VD input when powered 5,43V🙂

If you have another source, like a lab PSU, test the BIII with that. Otherwise you can just either raise current limit or scope for oscillations.

If it shows current then go on. Otherwise make some way to measure current when switching the DIP

With my lab PSU BIII max reaches 4.5V with 440mA, hey wait my bench psu is smoking arg...

Oh crap. That Buffalo must really oscillate. Bench PSU can short with its current limit without smoking.

Changed the fuse and seems bench PSU works again🙂

Good. Did you set current limit on the PSU? Talk to the TP guys on possible oscillation when doing what the switch does and they can recommend you a small cap in between maybe. Regs on regs isnt always the best idea.
