I need a parabolic reflector for the 150W CDM-T lamp. I went to Walmart, I found a 2million candle spot light (I guess Chasse in this forum used this reflactor). But i found it is not cheap... CAS$40 plus 15% tax in Ontario.... for the whole soptlight, that is OK, but I only need a reflactor, the rest stuff is useless to me... Do you guys know where I can find a good/cheap parabolic reflector for my 150W cdm lamp?
Thanks!!!!
Thanks!!!!
I got a spherical laying around if your interested, i also got one of those parabolic reflectors, tryed it out and decided to keep my spot light as a spot light!

I'd use a little polish on it to really give it a good shine.
Let Us know how it works out for you.
Nice find!

Sure, I will post my results here.
I haven't received my socket yet, so I cannot try it... anyway, I have tried to put the lamp from a 6Volt spotlight in, it focus well. It seems the focal length is short. Which part of the 150W CDMT emits the light? (top? middle? ot bottom?)
As for the surface, I am going to add aluminum duct tape to the inner surface if the initial test is good.

this is the reflector I'm using in my set up. The focal length is around 23mm. I'll post pictures when I can.
par 30
you can cut open a par30 also called halopar30 and use the 30degree cone par reflecter , at 200 mm fresnel focus you won't loose much at all .. i am about to do it, just waiting for my cdm to arrive ,but my supplier hasn't yet confirmed the size of the bulb 🙁 .may be you can post a pic of bulb and socket 🙂

hmm ... that looks small enough to fit into par30. thanks for the pic.
hey ace what do think of par30 reflector ,only problem is it's not dichroic ...heat might be an issue..but well till every thing is fired up and heat monitored using digital sensers can't tell..btw buddy i know hqi won't be as efficient but i might be forced to go for it as the base for cdm t is not available
...but i have an option for custom reflectors and condensers 😉 ...any suggestions from the 'guru' would be great.

hey projectile,
sorry, i am not the guru, but I can give you an advice for a dichroic par 30 reflctor. It is the so called "cool beam reflector" of osram.
The Osram No. is 64845 SP( Spot) or 64845 FL(flood).
Search for mathias and PAR 30 in this forum. He'd placed a CDM-T in a dremeled reflector like this.

hey buddy
you are two projectors old that's makes you a 'guru' in my book
could you possibly tell me the simplest reflector assembly for psx lcd based project cause the optic manufacturers here are real unfriendly to diy attempts so far i got an lcd ,a std ohp fresnel 315/215 and triplet to match em all . now my par30 and cdm's got to wait for non availabilityof the socket
can you believe it. what's the simplest best thing to use s a reflector for hqi 150 ,will later upgrade to lilliput when i figure out a way to get round customs.

hey projectile,
thx for the nice words.
reflectors for diy could be a soup ladle, a bottom of a "spray tin", a cosmetic (magnifiing)mirror.
but there is a chance to go round the g12 base. use this ceramic connectors.
they'll be heat resistant nuff. then make a diy-metalclamp to hold tight the cdm lamp .
then ur problem with the par 30 is solved too.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Put it this way, they are OK lol ive out done the brightness of one of those reflectors before with the spherical reflector and decent optics, it comes down to the coating on the reflector realy. Dichoric is by far the most reflective and coolest surface we can use. I eat flowers has proved his point with his latest master peice 😉. You should be able to get a par reflector light thats dichoric, i recall mathias having one made by osram.
As for the G12 socket they arent that hard to find, try this place, they will have one forsure.

yeah, the osram part no' is 64845 SP( Spot) or 64845 FL(flood).
sylvania has a similar par 30 it is a hi-spot 95 DIC and a Radium Par30 75W FL E27 Cool Beam.
@ ace:
lol "....his latest master piece..."
