reclocking cd80

After practizising on a old sony, i have sufficient currage to take on my Marantz cd-80. I have still laying around a suitable Tent X0 module. Is there a improvement to be gained by directly clocking the servo and the tda1541A as well? Can this be done with one X0?

Any synchronising problems this way?

I saw some post that dividers were neccesary, but that was in NOS-mode. I don't want to go the NOS road. What will be the frequencies for those chips in that case.

Does the extra circuitry neccesary add as much jitter as only reclocking the SAA7220?

Does anybody have the schematics/layout for the PSU.

hi, I have the servicemanual email me through the forum.

Elso, has your brain turned to rot from all those chat rooms you are hanging out in?

I perused the document........seems like someone else has pretty much the same ideas that I have, and for about the same period of time. So what is wrong with it??

I know......he must be a clock monger!!!!! Horrors! [joke]

BTW, I have two CD-80s in use. May be old, but not as old as you!

So there...........

Jocko

Still sounds good, great bass unmodded. My ears will be the final judge and not what's in between them i hope.
Not much to mod about new machines. To much smd in there. For the lesser skilled (me) a take it or leave it machine.

Did you receive my mail ?

HAHAHAHAHA no my brain is upset by an overdose of male hormon. Sooo many sexy ladies find me handsome. :xeye:
As far as the document concerns the LT1016 is really obsolete and powerhungry and his clock a weirdo.:clown:

Time to get serious for this poor guy Marcelinho...do not make too much fun around him , don't be too negative, what's the point in discouraging a DIY-er this way?

Marcelinho, go ahead with the clock thing in your CD80, it is, despite its age, a very good machine, for as long as the laser unit lives. And, believe me, it is probably Marantz's most reliable machine ever. I have friends and customers that have CD80's since 1989 and they are still performing flawlessly! Only the drawer belt will have to be replaced eventually, and some little lightbulbs above the drawer.

(But beware, if the laser wears out, its end of story.)

The clock will make it sound a lot better.
But also consider changing the output opamps and dc-blocking capacitors in the signal line between opamps and RCA-outputs.
Which clock sounds best is up to you, Elso's is not bad at all, neither is Tent's. But they do sound different.

Use Elso's offer for the manual, it will be a great help.

Enjoy.
