After practizising on a old sony, i have sufficient currage to take on my Marantz cd-80. I have still laying around a suitable Tent X0 module. Is there a improvement to be gained by directly clocking the servo and the tda1541A as well? Can this be done with one X0?
Any synchronising problems this way?
I saw some post that dividers were neccesary, but that was in NOS-mode. I don't want to go the NOS road. What will be the frequencies for those chips in that case.
Does the extra circuitry neccesary add as much jitter as only reclocking the SAA7220?
Does anybody have the schematics/layout for the PSU.

Do not put the clock into the filter chip and take the outputs from it!
Run separate lines to everything.

hi it does not help much 🙁
So no concensus about the sonic effects. Between the ears is also important. If you know it is less than perfect, it sounds accordingly.

This link adresses a phase synchronising issue. As a simple computerman i think that if i cut traces to clock-in, and feed the chips with one clock they are in fase and synchronised right?

no there IS consencus, Jocko is right. But the effect is small and I am pulling his leg. Obsolete technology that CD80, soooooo old
Edit you read the date at that jitter document? Right 1993.....

Obsolete technology, yeah maybe. I have to find out myself (the hard way). didn't you?.
I can always use it as transport if it last that long. No old technology mechanicaly.

Servos and DSP are ooold😱
Elso, has your brain turned to rot from all those chat rooms you are hanging out in?
I perused the document........seems like someone else has pretty much the same ideas that I have, and for about the same period of time. So what is wrong with it??
I know......he must be a clock monger!!!!! Horrors! [joke]
BTW, I have two CD-80s in use. May be old, but not as old as you!
So there...........

Still sounds good, great bass unmodded. My ears will be the final judge and not what's in between them i hope.
Not much to mod about new machines. To much smd in there. For the lesser skilled (me) a take it or leave it machine.
Did you receive my mail ?

Me??? I don't check the mail from here very often, as this the only place that has that address. And I tend to hang out in other places more often. But I'll look.........

He may not reply unless you provide:
Age, sex, location, credit card number.
Artifact of hanging out in chat rooms, you see.

HAHAHAHAHA no my brain is upset by an overdose of male hormon. Sooo many sexy ladies find me handsome.

As far as the document concerns the LT1016 is really obsolete and powerhungry and his clock a weirdo.

Elso,
The first google search provides an alternative:
http://www.maxim-ic.com/alternatives.cfm/part/LT1016/pk/59
didn't check availability.
or a very sensitive looking one:

Lots of new good clocks around on this forum to replace this 1993-one.
f.i. Tentslab, lcaudio. Did i forget some?

Time to get serious for this poor guy Marcelinho...do not make too much fun around him , don't be too negative, what's the point in discouraging a DIY-er this way?
Marcelinho, go ahead with the clock thing in your CD80, it is, despite its age, a very good machine, for as long as the laser unit lives. And, believe me, it is probably Marantz's most reliable machine ever. I have friends and customers that have CD80's since 1989 and they are still performing flawlessly! Only the drawer belt will have to be replaced eventually, and some little lightbulbs above the drawer.
(But beware, if the laser wears out, its end of story.)
The clock will make it sound a lot better.
But also consider changing the output opamps and dc-blocking capacitors in the signal line between opamps and RCA-outputs.
Which clock sounds best is up to you, Elso's is not bad at all, neither is Tent's. But they do sound different.
Use Elso's offer for the manual, it will be a great help.
Enjoy.

Hi,
I saw that elso had the service manual for CD80.
Might I have a copy please ?
My mail : mgm31 at wanadoo.fr
I plan to put the Kwak7 to this machine.......
