Re-design
Paulb;
Might you direct me to a knowledge source for crossover help? All of the tweeters were replaced. I suppose mid-fi is an alternative(NO). But like I said (I think) I'm no electronics guy! It just seems that the few parts that are in the existing crossover should be easy for a novice to replace/add to if he knows what parts/values/etc to use. This really isn't a life-long ambition or anything- but, jeeeeeze I'm just looking for assistance. It's either give it a whack or trash the 601's. Being of parents from the 1920's, (I'm 53) I feel the desire to utilize everything I have.
Is there a site that anyone's aware of that would figure the best way to go building a crossover with the four 3" and two 8" speakers per cabinet? The 4's are four ohm, the 8"s are eight ohm.
Are you guys' having a lot of fun with this? I was laughing my fanny off.

The best thing to do is draw out the current crossover and we'll go from there. Chances are it's a pretty rudimentary affair and all you need to do will be change a few components to accomodate the new drivers.
BTW, in the UK, a fanny is definitely not something a *man* would be laughing off

Passive crossovers are a bit of black magic, but there is science involved too. Try this article to start:

simple enough?
Hopefully, a x-over pic will be in the attachment. Don't know if it helps- if I drew it up it probably wouldn't make sense to someone that reads electrical drawings.
