ECC88/6DJ8 @ 12mA/90V with a 12K Anode Load gives you a gain of 29db and drives 10K load just fine. No buffer needed.

I find it refreshing to try something different to see how it turns out, and combine technologies usually not applied together, even if there are other easier means to an end. The danger is in seeking solutions to non-existent problems or in being so invested in one's own solution that one overlooks other better ones, the "not invented here" syndrome. And there is a learning curve when one ventures into the unconventional, I had one helluva time with loop stability in my CCS-loaded tube active feedback RIAA.
