R-Theta Group Buy Anyone?

Wow they look totally awesome!!

I got the skid of Canadian orders today. They are packed amazingly well, in fact they are packed so well that they split all the shipments into multiple boxes. This may impact the shipping expenses somewhat as it cost money to ship the additional cardboard.

I was able to negotiate better pricing when I placed the order and also get a slightly better rate on the US Consolidated shipment, which I will use to offset the additional shipping costs.

I shipped out one Canadian order already that I had quoted $19 for shipping in one box, but was packed in two boxes by R-Theta. This shipment cost me just over $29 but after the fair share calculation from the cost savings the difference is only $5.

I will post the the changes and ask the members to send the few extra bucks after they recieve thier orders. I will update the wiki as I make shipments. Also if anyone wishes to audit the funds I have all the costs recorded in Excel.

Niner I will need the individual ship costs from you so I can calculate the Credit and Deficits.

Anthony:

What do the "top" and the "bottom" of the heatsinks look like (assuming they are oriented as they would be in an amp)? I'm assuming the entire extrusion was andonized and then sliced into 6" or 12" pieces? Are the cuts nice and smooth and shiny?

Actually they were cut and polished, and then anodized. There a few spots on the fin ends where they rested during the process.

I am going to sand down the ends on mine to get the shiny look.
I will try to post some pics later.

Well I put two of the 12" heatsinks out on the bench to get an idea of what they will look like. Very imposing I must say, I need to figure out if 6" apart is enough for Tansformer and Caps. If it is I could make a perfect 12" cube amp! 🙂

Next thing to do is price out some 12" x .375 bar stock cut to 12" or 16" lengths at Metal Supermarkets for the front face plate.

now it's working strange... it's a very nice tool. What do you think a reasonable maximum value on the right hand scale (which looks to show the max temperature on the plot) would be? My devices are TO-3P. Also, you can click on device summary which is very nice and gives a tabular view of the sim results.

If you check the manufacturers specs on the part it usually gives some data on operating temperature.

I think I would think 60 Deg C would be the maximum I would want to go.

All Canadian orders have been shipped out via Canada Post, with the exception of one held for Pickup.

After I added the Pay Pal Fees, the extra postage due to multiple boxes and the Frieght charge from Mississauga to Ancaster I came up a little short. I have not held up any shipments due to this as I feel most members will do the right thing and send me something once thier shipments arrive.

In most cases it is only a few dollars, but the really heavy shipments did cost me more than I expected.

Anyway I have updated the Wiki and if you want to see how the costs break out I will send you the spreadsheet.

I hope you all enjoy the new Heatsinks, they do look good and I know nobody has done a group buy on this profile before. The 12" section is just bloody massive! 😀

I also have 2 of the 6" profiles spare as one member did not send payment. I paid CAD taxes and the CAD Frieght already so they are going for $80 for the pair. I will ship direct to the US or Canada.

If you are interested but really need 4 for a pair of Monoblocks I do have 2 extras I bought for myself for a mystery project that I could sell.

Then it would be $160 plus postage. I do not plan on selling my two extras as a stand alone sale . 1 buyer can get 2 or 4 NOT 2 buyers get 2 ea.

Regards

Anthony
