peranders - knows a lot about this
peranders have built an extreme phono amp
see his homepage
you do not need to build so advanced
there are good RIAA phono amps
using only one OPamp
here is a thread about phono amp peranders started

Do a search on "Pearl" or "Ono". Both are very fine phono stages . Here are some opinions: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4078&highlight=pearl

Why not try this:
It is based on the phono preamp made by Thorsten Loesh and the original could be found at his homepage.
It sounds pretty good...

If you want a basic circuit, you have lot's of them. I have made a couple of Excel files for calcuclating the RIAA network. Drop me a note if you or somebody else want those.
With risk for

Alaskan built phono preamp
Perhaps I can suggest one of my RIAA phono pre-amps. Its a great unit and is quite easy to build. Very low noise and offers adjustable RIAA equalization to optimize any cartrige. Each circuit board is for one channel.

Some more info here:

This preamp is also suitable for use in recording studios and can drive balanced 600 ohm lines. The NAB reproduce amplifier version has been used to replace stock reproduce amplifiers for the purpose of remastering old analog tapes to digital format.
I have not had enough free time to update my web site so some information is somewhat out of date.

Pcb's looks very nice. Compare the link of Coph Nia MC amp when we talk about appearance.

Interesting "star" concept of the layout.
