Naah, just kidding....but you can make the vent holes in the top platee look clear, by heating them a bit.

Magura 🙂

Yeah, thats right. I didnt think of that. That would look cool.

ZM, pictures send. Mind you there is still a lot of hours work left in that Pumpkin. 10-15 hours I guess. I like the way its turning out, though. A vegestable needs a biodynamic home😉 That explains the Teak. Actually its nice to try something new.

My big mouth got me on this one Steen 😀

Beautiful ZV9, as always… 😉

Finishing acrylic plastics

Yep, right again. Great idea. A hot air gun (or what you call it) must be the best tool for the job?

Beautiful work, Steenoe. I'll say it for ZM -- "Ugly!"

Be very, very careful with a hot air gun or any source of heat for finishing the edges of thin acrylic plastic -- it will be VERY easy to warp or otherwise damage that thin top cover.

What I have done with very great success to finish the cut edges of acrylic plastic is to use progressively finer grits of abrasive paper, up to 3200# grade. It goes surprisingly quickly by hand and will leave a water-clear surface when done to the finest grades of abrasive. For your circular holes I would take a small wooden dowel and make a slot lengthwise to hold the paper wound around the dowel, and simply rotate the dowel by hand with gentle pressure.

I have attempted to attach a picture of my hand-built turntable -- the platter was turned by lathe and machine finished, but the rest of it, including all the edges, was finished with abrasive paper by hand.

Good luck -- you are a very skilled craftsman.

THAT'S fugly!!!

give us bigger pic !

Thanks ZM; that's high praise coming from you! 😀

I don't know how to attach a bigger pic -- every time I try to attach one the post fails with the message that the attachment was too big. . .

How do you guys get a thumbnail that opens up into a decent sized jpeg?

Hi Steve. Thats a great looking turntable😱 Nice work. The finished edges looks glassclear from here.
You can resize and make a smaller resolution in a picture program.
Try "Irfanview" its free and you can find it on the web.

Strange thing happened !!

A while ago one of my Shunty PCB's dissappeared from my drawer, including some transistors for my Shunty - it has returned !
Wrapped in paper with a very strange language (i thought Danish was difficult to read and learn).
Maybe someones shadow has been involved in this...

Well i heard that he had some minor important technical problems with one of the Shunty's that is why he borrowed one PCB from me.
It is indeed a nice looking pumkin box Steenoe.
Offcourse i won't tell why that knob is standing there - but there is a reason...😉

The Shunty is a whimpy circuit. Cant even take 100V DC input per rail😀 Not without "some" smoke, what a whimp.....

There is no reason for the knob to be in that place, anymore. I found the chip and glued it back on😀
