Can you give me pretty cheap drivers to sound good?
Do you have any suggestions for cheap bass / midrange and tweeter in 2-way?
Are there any signs to avoid? Which brands to choose from?
I will try to find a cheap solution. 2-way.
Scanspeak, Seas and SB is expensive but give me a try for a cheap solution even for good drivers.
Visaton? Monacor?
Regards
Leif

It's not pretty, but the Faital pro 5fe120 has a nice linear frequency response, and is cheap as chips over here in the UK.
The word cheap has no useful meaning. How much money are you going to spend? What are the dimensions of a box you can deal with? What is this for? Etc.
Once you know the answers to questions on budget, box size, room size, listening habits etc we can help you better, there are many options at different price points.
Having said that, I've found the Peerless SDS five and 6.5 inch mids and Vifa BC tweeters sound good for not much money: about A$35 for each; not sure how that translates in your area? Relatively easy to work with, too which generally means less complex and costly crossovers, and quite a few good projects around, too.
But we really need more information

Music, pop rock blues soul.
My room are 5 x 3.5 meter.
i read that repeatedly here on DIYA.That Faital 5FE120 is a real winner
however, looking at the measurements on "dibirama" it seems resonances (2 kHz, 3.5 kHz) are not that great, see waterfall/CSD diagrams:
https://www.dibirama.altervista.org...tal-5fe120-8-mid-woofer-5-8-ohm-160-wmax.html
can these measurements be trusted?
e.g. compared to measurements of dayton dsa135?
thanks!
You have to consider the scale of that CSD which is 40dB down at 4ms on the trail end of those resonances. Thats not bad at all taking into account this driver has an inverted dust cap and rubber surround. There will always be tradeoffs and I could show you other drivers in that price point that measure far worse up top. The only cleaner ones I know are the poly cone Peerless 830870, but they too have tradeoffs. Also, I don't always agree with the measurements posted on dibirama.com but the one you linked to doesn't look too far off.
I once made ultra cheap MTM, from parts express stuff on sale, there was this 4" midbass, 16 ohm, no name brand, for like $5, which measured quite well and sounded great. Then I had a box of 200 onkyo tweeters for $20 closeout sale, the speakers turned out great considering the cost, unfortunately they are no longer available.

Regarding the dayton dsa135, its an alu cone driver and unless you make sure that breakup is at least 25-30 dB down, you will be driven up the wall by it being the frequency its at. I would take the faital over that driver any day.

$200 for one speaker - how about -
SB17MFC - $70
SB26CDC - £45 (on sale at Madisound)
Leaving $85 for box and crossover, should be do-able.
here is Troels' version with the SB26ADC which is almost identical to the SB26CDC
http://www.troelsgravesen.dk/SBAcoustics-61-MFC.htm
Edit - there is also the Aluminium cone version with the SB17NBAC, the driver is a little more expensive but the crossover looks simpler.

Good sealed box woofer but your stuck with a high Fc and that 6k peak needs to be dealt with if you want to push the LP up higher than say 2.5k 2nd order. Applying a LCR notch wouldn't be too hard or expensive. What do you think about this?

Get an appropriate crossover for about 1Khz and stick 'em in a decent box and they make pretty music.

Build Paul Carmody's Hitmakers or Classix II.
Good reference speakers for future projects.
People spend a hell of a lot more on speakers
that do not sound as good.
You can get parts, precut baffles, CNC'ed knock down cabs, and PC boards for neat crossovers,
And have something to spend on nice veneer, etc.
