power supply and amps question??????

No problem Video Freak. The load will only use the 2.7 amps specified from a power supply of the correct voltage. If the power supply is specified at 3 amps that means that it can deliver up to 3 amps into a load at the rated voltage.

HDTVman is correct. In fact you *want* the supply to be rated a bit higher than the current you will be drawing, otherwise if you try and pull to much the supply will current limit (if you're lucky) and the voltage will drop. If you're unlucky it will blow a fuse or worse.
