Just want to let you know your work is appreciated
There have been a half dozen F5X GB threads that I have been tracking for the past year. Just keeping track of all the group buys has been exhausting, so I can only imagine the work involved for the people running them (purchasing, matching, collecting payments, shipping, etc). I for one am very grateful for all involved, especially Patrick considering that this endeavor has actually cost him money in addition to the time spent.
If we view the F5X as a whole, this is probably the most complex GB, by far.
Participants are around the globe, and so are the coordinators.
I can say this much. The actual process is not as smooth as it looked. Yet,
the gentleman behind the scene simply sorted them out. Even better, there
was no finger pointing (which is all over in where I work!!). Everyone worked
together for the best solution/compromise even though the cost ended up in
our own wallet. Also, it is just human nature. We tend to use whatever worked
before. So, participants can help us a bit to accommodate the process we feel
comfortable with.
Needless to say, we never feel done until the parts reach the end user's hands
safely. Look at the long journey of the resistors and the mosfets GB's!! Hopefully,
the case and the heat sink will be done soon.

Started a thread for discussion of the case. I've posted some assembly guidelines that I hope are helpful. Check it out (lots of photos)!

Thanks for your interest.
We shall announce later in the summer after the first batch has finish their amplifiers completely.
If anything, to see whether there are place for improvements.

I tried something even simpler tonight. A sherry bottle cork will fit perfect.
You then need to drill a small hole (say 1.5mm), and use a wood screw to secure this in place at the rear bracket.
Do not over-tighten. 🙂
Patrick
Oh, great..... Drink a bottle of sherry, and then solder SMD components....and then wire the primary side of the torroids.... This build will be even more fun than expected....!! 😀
Actually, for a more professional use, you can attain a one-hole rubber "laboratory" stopper from most hobby or chemical supply stores..... You can then insert a metal "T-nut" (captive nut) into the hole in the stopper, and end up with a pretty clean installation.

Horio/Greg, if we do decide to do a NA capacitor GB, count me in for a set...
Thanks Ken. I'll probably get the cap GB rolling here in the next week or so.
