I think everyone who subscribed for the case has a copy of Mark's pdf.
Many probably have not started, so they will benefit from your experience.

Thus, I think feedback, tips, lots of photos, and some subjective impressions are of interest.
Most importantly it offers a platform for exchange of information and discussions.

Cheers,
Patrick

This is a stupid way to request payment for a Group Buy.

I happened to notice this particular announcement and paid accordingly.

There was a similar announcement for another part of the F5x that I missed.
That type of announcement is not acceptable.

You must find and use a better system in future.

I have participated in a wide range of DIYaudio Group Buys. None requested payments like this thread.

Dear Andrew,

No, I do not agree with you that we are stupid. We know how to request payment by Paypal, etc.

But when one is doing this for charity (because we do not make any money from the whole thing, rather we lost thousands), and one already pumped in thousands of hours, and one has so much work with your day time job that one gets home only after 20:00 p.m. without dinner, then there is a limit as to what level of service one could provide to the community.

For the small inconvenience it causes, you can help us to safe a lot of work for Mark, who actually does not really want to do this anymore. So I hope that you can accommodate our not very user friendly way of working.

Stupid we certainly are not.

Best regards,
Patrick

If we view the F5X as a whole, this is probably the most complex GB, by far.
Participants are around the globe, and so are the coordinators.

I can say this much. The actual process is not as smooth as it looked. Yet,
the gentleman behind the scene simply sorted them out. Even better, there
was no finger pointing (which is all over in where I work!!). Everyone worked
together for the best solution/compromise even though the cost ended up in
our own wallet. Also, it is just human nature. We tend to use whatever worked
before. So, participants can help us a bit to accommodate the process we feel
comfortable with.

Needless to say, we never feel done until the parts reach the end user's hands
safely. Look at the long journey of the resistors and the mosfets GB's!! Hopefully,
the case and the heat sink will be done soon.
