Post your results!!!

I've been lurking for a couple of weeks and have not seen a thread where result's are posted in a comparative manner. I thought it could be truly informative and help all us n00b's make better buying decision's if there were a thread in which members would post a pic or just link to one of thier results and describe thier setup.

Just a thought. Let it drop if it were a bad one.

P.S.

Here's what I've found so far, if you're the owner and I don't list your rig, I'd be thankful if you'd relink it and describe it.

OHP Zardoz Sharp LQ121S1DG11

Looks like SuperZoboo has been compiling results here

OHP ywh 15' LCD significantly altered.

Well here is a kind of a really straigth link to the site:
http://80.222.8.230/semidiy/index.htm
I've had over 200 visitors there since yesterday and most of them have come trough here, AudioDIY -forum.

I have fitted the thing with optics and lamp base suitable for example FCS, FDV, EVC or EHJ halogens. I took the stuff out of a over 20 years old dia projector, and I THINK that the optics are made of glass 🙂

I am thinking of modifying the base and optics a bit (to G8.5 or G12) and getting suitable ballast (is that the word that is meaning the PSU for those kinds of lamps?) for a 150W T6 HID bulb (10000+ lumens) to get quite good brightness out of the thing (the image was well visible at night with the about 20 years old 150w halogen that was on the end of its life, I think it gave about 4000 lumens before it died...).

great site, thats one more for my bookmarks. the link works but some pics wont load i can only see like 3 pix lol. but it looks good from what i can see, if only u can use MH lamps... about the ballast yes i think its a kind psu.

OH, and the HID's I hear they are not good for this project they are said to be too pink. but i CAN be wrong...i hear 250 watt HQIs are GREAT. good luck 🙂

Well, I have a PC as a source for the projector and I can adjust the color tones quite nicely at that point. With my Radeon 7200 ViVo DDR I can adjust gamma of red, green and blue separately and so I can compensate if the light source is a bit pink or about anything. I use the projector also for viewing vhs and television and have the vcr connected to the radeon. This way the "color correction" works with those sources also.

another great site and another addition to my bookmarks 🙂
what kind of light was that in the picture of your custom projector?

jimmy

Thanks Jimmy,

My light source is a 400W Sylvania Metal Halide bulb. The ballast and switching circuitry is built into the base. It's not too clear in the photos, but I replaced the dappled reflector with a highly reflective aluminium ellipsoid reflector - made from a sheet of pre-polished aluminium. Heat is my only problem now, I'm working on a solution for that at the moment.

Well, ViVo = Video-In/Video-Out, so it simply means that the graphics card can input and output coaxial video. This one also is able to output svhs.
Because of the video outputs it could also be used for adjusting colors, image size, brightness and contrast and some other stuff even if the panel/projector did not have the VGA-input on it... never thought that before... hmm... maybe some of you find this finding useful in their own projects?

hmm. so that means i can play my console games and etc.. on my monitor? whoa.. if so then im gettin a cheap vivo card.
Well, yeah, of course you can, and in the same time you can connect the PC to your DIY projector's VGA-in or to the video-in and use some cheap massively bright lamp with a bit weird color temperature fixed by the card as you play 😀 .
And these things really aren't even expensive (mine was 50 euros, I bought it last summer from a friend). Heh, you can even get an all-in-wonder Radeon, so you'll even have a tv-tuner built in to the system!

Negative, You've posted 9 times in this thread and have not shown us your results. Are they forthcoming, or is this a flagrant hijack?

Here's two more...

PROJ mikejz84 LCD and $10 Flea Market Slide Projector 🙂

??? Mario007(?)

~typo's suck, especially when they're quoted.

the point of this negative was to have a thread devoted to results and not cluttered with off topic post's... capiche?
