I am trying to build a cabinet for my guitar amp. I have build other cabinets but this time is different and i need some help. I need to build a ported cabinet, like the tl806 but the speaker i have is not the famous electrovoice el12.
I m going to use a jensen tornado classic 100 8 ohm istead.
I have used an online calculator to get me in the ballpark, here the results
Now, my doubts, the cabinet volume suggested is huge, 126 liters it is going to be oversized for guitar amp 1x12.
Do you think these results can be trusted or should i use a better source?
I know the tl806 cab design has slots and not pipes for the bass reflex but i don t care, i m not trying to clone the design, just the concept.

Lead or bass guitar?
Jensen Tornado Classic 100 is wrong choice for bas guitar ported cabinet because it has Xmax=+/- 1 mm, while EVM 12L has Xmax=+/- 3.3 mm.

Lead guitar cabinets almost exclusively are open back or closed, almost never ported. I am not a guitar player, but I don't recommend ported cabinet for a lead guitar.
The tl806 sounds very good to my ear, a lot of guitar player love it and i want to build one using a different speaker which is recommended by the manufacturer for ported cabs as well. I know it is not going to push a lot of air in the low frequencies with a xmax of 1m, i don t need it to go as low as 50hz. I play D standard on my guitars and usually drop C.

On-line calculator will spit out Chebyshev alignment for the lowest F3 and lowest ripple, which in the case of driver with higher Qts parameter (like your Jensen) results in very big box volume Vb. But you can choose any other reasonable volume Vb if you don't need lof F3 - which is exactly your case. About 35-55 liters seems like a good number for Vb.
Maybe TL806 sounds good to your ear, but the driver inside is EVM12L whch has very low Qts (less than 1/2 of your Jensen), much longer Xmax (3 times bigger than Jensen) and different frequency response than Jensen. If you put Jensen in the TL806 cabinet, prepare yourself for very different sound - which you might not like.

That i know for sure, the speaker i have will not sound good in the tl806.
That is the reason why i want to build one following the concept of that cabinet design.
