PSU boards.
Hello again Bas.
I never thought to ask before but will there be any PSU board(s) available for use with the octal Aikido? You can put me down for two more octal boards making four in total and two PSU boards if you are going to do those. I have a paypal account also so payment is no problem. Just say and you're paid.
Many thanks Bas, Si.

Just to recap..here is the psu board.
You can populate the board with a lot of different resistors..etc.
Up to you.
It offers hybrid graetz bridge followed by A CRCC and then splits up in an RC for each channel...and a +bias for the heater supply which is needed because the cathode of one half is elevated to around 110VDC..
If you like you can ofcourse use a choke L where the R is used..
So ONE psu can feed TWO boards.
Here is a ballpark schematic

Regards,
Bas

Other topologies..discussed by John Broskie...
XPP is great for driving difficult loads such as headphones.
Gomes seems very suited to driving an output tube.

Hi Bas,
Please put me down for 2, 9pin boards and 2 power supply boards as well as the Octal boards you noted.
Thanks

That is correct.
Steve
Anyone who received the previous shipment of boards have any comments?
Anyone plan on building anything other then a linestage with the PCBs?
Maybe a phono-pre or amp input stage?
Can you guys post any photos of your progress?
Thanks,
Max

I've not used my boards yet. Still have a few projects ahead of them, but I'll probably build either a phono amp or headphone amp with these. Maybe depends on what JB comes up with as to which I build with this set.

To make a long story short..AFAIAC you should connect her up to a little speaker...and see how she blows
Bas- I fired up the 6N1P/ECC99 combo tonight. Initially I had buzzing on both channels (more so on the "right" one). Reheated the ground tabs in the input/output jacks (used enameled bus wire) after initial buzzing in both channels. I now have music (very clean) on the "right channel".
The left channel gave music briefly after reheating the ground tabs but gave way to severe buzzing (sound comes thru but severe distortion). It still might be a poor solder joint (the ground tab solder doesn't appear very shiny like a good solder joint should).
Halfway there.
Cheers,
Steve
Im thinking about a tube preamp, but allways change my mind on which one.
Its down to an Aikido or 12B4. thing is I want really low gain for a linstage. What tube is suitable in the Aikido for linestage or low gain?
cheers Arthur

It wasn't the ground tabs. In my haste to hook the thing up, I had one of the heater supply leads lying close to the output lead. After that was cleaned up, we have music from both channels. Thru my Bottlehead Paramours Ben Webster never sounded so good.
Now for the 6N1P/5687 combo.
