platter is rotating in reverse

'And now for something completly different'

I remember trying a friends Bultaco (dirt bike) going up a hill many moons ago..
Upon stalling going up and sliding back slightly , there was enough rotation to kick start the bike in reverse!!
Crazy feeling gasing the motor and having it pull backwards
Not the Pursang series

The BD1 table mentioned could do the same thing when I had one also. ( Connoiseur )

Glad you fixed your table

I have a clock that runs backward.

Some very old AC clocks would start either way (like that Bultaco). One I knew had a little finger that caught on the back-rotation and bounced it into forward motion. That broke, so we had to check and re-start a few times after power failures.

But I now have a clock made to run backward, and with the numbers backward.

There was a bar in lower Manhattan with such a clock, just north of the World Trade Center -- "Suerkens" -- back in the day when lawyers working City Hall, and guys from AT&T or Wall St. would have a couple "see-throughs" for lunch. You could look up at the mirror over the bar and catch a glimpse of the reverse-running clock, which was now telling the correct time. One of the oldest bars in NYC, it was a fried chicken joint before becoming a "club" for the unwashed:

> Some 2 stroke cars even used it for reverse gear.

Big cargo ships have big 2-stoke piston-port Diesels. Started with compressed air. It is standard to be able to shift the starter cam over so the engine will start then run the other way. While slow and awkward, it is considered a good thing to have in emergency. In-port backup normally has tugs assisting.
