6P1P is the beam tetrode of 6V6 family. Describing it as the "noval 6AQ5" is pretty spot-on.
It's never mentioned to be the EL84/6BQ5/6P14P replacement as far as I know (and pinouts are different indeed). It wasn't even really popular in the Soviet Union, unlike the 6P14P and 6P6S (=6V6). We should thank China for popularizing it through their version.

I've run the 6P1P triode strapped 300V/40mA for years... It's not like 250V is ok and 251V will destroy it 😛 I've even run a set at 300V/56mA and they still lasted for a year of 24/7 running.
I tend to prefer the 6P43P these days though. They make almost 10x the power in triode, too.

A difference between 300V and 250V is Triode Wired versus Pentode/Beam, respectively.
Almost any tube can be run beyond its specifications.
Just try and run a semiconductor at 100 degrees C, and violate the SOA by 300/250
(20% over spec).

DJN, I enjoy seeing you have so much fun. There is a plasticity to amp building seldom explored...but not by you, you keep the options open. I’d like to see you turn one inside out. Have you done this?

A friend of mine did that with his TV in his dorm room. He had components strung all over the room ending at the screen.. it was cool.
