I am not sure of the material, but there is a filament that is a mix of copper or brass with ABS or PLA that can be polished to a metallic shine.
Nice looking bezel!

Yes. And filaments with 60% of wood are excellent too!
Hi Wavebourn, what 3D design software do you use? Also what printer are you using?
I have just finished building my 3D printer and have it working really well now. Just been trying to find some decent 3D CAD software. I am used to using AutoCAD but obviously can't afford the extortionate subscription they want now. I have tried some of the other Autodesk stuff but it's not for me.
Cheers
Matt.

Hey Maxxaudio,
I applaud your winding you own...no small feat!
It is almost a shame to keep those groovy heat sinks out of sight ;-)
how do you like the sound on the end product?

I like sound very much, it's not like clasic EL34/6L6 amp in triode whos i previously build, it's very stable and powerfull amp and have unique character.
Thus a wide range of output tubes can be used at the expense of strict driver tube limitation (ECC81, eventually ECC82), needless to say idealy for tube rollers 😀
Personaly tried EL34, 7027A, KT90, EL36, 6L6GC, 6p3s, even a QE 05/40(diferent pinout)
Transformers is relatively easy to wound, but need so much time to calculate and design. I use Dissident audio software OPT_da, for simulation, and hand lathe with counter for wound.
Heat sinks are oversized but SS devices are meant to heat and burn in SS amps, in tube amps only tubes have privileges to be hot 😀
Regards.

Hello everyone,
Here comes a new froggy member !
Below are some pictures of some of my amps :
- The first one is an hybrid, 60 W, push-pull, class AB, DC coupled from input to output, screen feedback amp.
It uses four 6267/EF86, two 12AU7/ECC82 and two pairs of 2SK1058/2SJ162.
- The second one is a single-ended headphone amp for 300 or 600 Ohm headsets, DC coupled from input to output, no feedback.
It uses two 12AT7/ECC81, four 6922, two 6BQ5/EL84.
They are described here (in french i'm afraid ...) : http://exnihil6.wixsite.com/otarion

Absolutely unacceptable... these... these monstrosities of audio magic and craftsmanship. Sand and tubes? Unheard of! And EL84 tubes in a headphone amp? Blasphemy! GAH! Where are the tube cages? Where are the THD measurements?
Send them right over to me for immediate environmentally sound disposal -- as a favour, I will do it for free.
Now that we have got all the outrage out of the way, welcome to diyaudio, have a good time and post your comments, measurements, schematics, and most importantly -- how do they sound to you?
6C33C OTL power amp playing the Betles.....
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
Weird enough, nothing about bloody frogs ?
Thank you for welcoming me !
M.
Nah, not fun anymore -- I am getting used to the Quebequois next door.
But what does the hybrid sound like and what are you playing the music through? Some French made Focals possibly?
Wrong guess ! I am a patriot only when I find France is the best. So I'm less and less a patriot ...
As far as speakers are concerned, it's been a long time since France has lost the challenge. That said, I usually use old modified French SIARE (audax) and JeanMarie Reynaud, the latter just because of an opportunity.
About the sound, and supposing I can make myself understood considering my terrible english, the most specific feeling is ease and consistency, a comfortable feeling that everything sits naturally at the right place. I would say that the amp exhibits good balance on a large choice of programs which is important to my ...ears. So, you see, nothing spectacular, just so easy to forget the amp.
Even if you don't like mixing tubes and sand (btw, isn't glass made from sand ?), you can have a try, for these amps are so easy to build.
Oh, by the way, if you stand the quebequois, you're ready for froggies !
Regards,
M.
