Phonoclone and VSPS Group Buys

Looking in my parts box I found an unused set of Rhys' phonoclone boards that I bought and P-A kindly sent to me. Unfortunately they arrived about 8 months too late for me to make any use of them. If anyone wants them they are available at a discount price of $10 for the pair including shipping.

The parts numbers are not marked on the silk screen (his mistake), and some capacitors are marked backwards (my mistake), and BCE rather than ECB transistors are shown (nobodies fault, the now standard BD35-BD36 transistors were adopted later) but I will send a printout of the board layout with the boards showing the part numbers and everything correct for the latest BOM.

I also have a set of assembled Phonoclone 3 (32e) boards as pictured for sale for $150.

Got the new batch of VSPS300 and Phonoclone 3 boards back from pcbcart today.

The VSPS 300i is unchanged from previous. The Phonoclone 3 is a (slightly) revised layout, and the first set of Phonoclone 3 boards to source from pcbcart. Like the VSPS 300 and VSPS Kit boards they are black in color with double thickness 70 um copper traces.

Changelog for the 35b Phonoclone boards:

- removal of RF suppression cap C0 at the input (confused people)
- addition of a dedicated GND pad to connect the board to the chassis (less confusing than asking people to make that connection from the COM wire)
- C1 and C2 now have an extra set of 5mm spaced pads to accommodate Wima capacitors. (more flexibility in component choice)
- a number of components were moved slightly to reduce crowding.

The new layout can be downloaded from my homepage, here.

It's too much work, and too much money to keep as inventory, so if I do it at all it will be as a limited subscription once a year around Xmas.

I've just shipped six. There are four more Phonoclone 3 kits with new boards ready for the new year. That will be all until next December. Price is $105 US.

Note: no orders will be processed until after Jan 15th, but you can email me to reserve a kit of you want.

Would like to build Phonoclone 3

I have clicked on all links related to this project and it does not look like PCB or kits are available anymore are they?
If not, I will use the PCB .brd file you posted and the BOM and go ahead and build it. Since this is only my third DIY project, I am still in the buy the kit and modify after you learn mode, but I guess I have to learn to fly someday...
Please let me know if there are any PCB or kits around (powr supply also obviously).

Thanks!

Hi there again
I looked in the site but was unable to find any reference to pre made boards or kits for sale or , however, I saw the reverence to Olimar to get the boards made.

please advise if this is correct or if there is an alternative to get the boards from you or as part of a group buy.

Update: Temporarily out of stock of phonoclone 3 boards. Running low on C1,C2,and C3 for both Phonoclone and VSPS300 projects. Sold out of op amps and sockets. Down to the last 30 VSPS Kits... the cupboards are rather bare these days at RJM Audio.

C1-3 provoke a small crisis, as these were bought in bulk ages ago at a very good discount and searching the web it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to find replacements at anything close to the same price.

Wanted: low voltage axial polypropylene film cap with a value between 1.6 uF to 2.5 uF. Price about $1-2 ea.

Just wanted to let people know that stocks are going to be patchy for a while until I can find some new suppliers.

Update: I have ordered ten sets of resistors for the Phonoclone 3. The price of the full Phonoclone 3 "kit" is $125, limited to a quantity of 8-9, possibly less depending on the remaining stock of C1-3.

I'm going to let the stock run empty and then decide what to do about replacements. I did do some searching on the web but couldn't find anything near the same price.
