'Perceive v2.0' Construction Diary

I've been forced into it as an inbetween. 4 cars and only 3 driver in the house so thought I'd make use of the spare banger. God I hate Vauxhall cars. But time to buy a house so might be sticking with it till it falls apart. Trouble is that it just keeps on going and going and running costs are laughable in comparisson to what I was accustomed to. So the Vectra it is for a while. I'm directing the crazy side of me back into amps instead as you well know 😉

Bit of sad news really.

I'm going to have to sell the Percieves and virtually all my audio gear 🙁

I've had confirmation today that I've got a new job, but the thing is I'll be moving to Germany and don't fancy shipping all DIY speakers that have no boxes - they'd get smashed to pieces in a shipping container. There's also the small matter of building up a little more capital so the toys are the first to go. The upshot is better pay, a more senior position, company car and great job stability.

I'll put up an ad for the stuff when I get a bit of time but just off the top of my head the stuff will be the Perceives themselves(or just the individual drivers if I can't find a taker, would be a crime to throw the beautiful cabinets aways though), the four Peerless XLS's(the virtually finished sub box is available FOC if you buy the lot), the B&C 12TBX100 drivers(again the sub box is available for these if you'd like), tricked out gainclones, AKSA Nirvana Plus amps, the six nice amp enclosures from ATI Research, plus the random stuff that I need to clear away.

Feels like somebody ripped my heart out but I've got to be practical and the stuff will be priced to shift because I don't have the luxury of much time.

And just in case anyone thinks this is a joke, I'm absolutely and deadly serious unfortunately 🙁 But hey, there's also a very good side to all this 🙂

I don't really want to go off topic here. But i extreamly think itis funny to see a guy with his head up bis but and going out and buying a 125 thousand$$$ car corvet c5 or what ever it is, then seeing a 1999 honda civic pull up beside him and LEAVE HIM THERE!!.. the true part abotu rice is all the after markte JUNK like huge wings spoilers ground effects ugly rims that is rice..

Im sure you can have a nice c5 with 500hp but a nice civic with 500 hp is faster and lighter 🙂

How about the car? Could I buy it and have it shipped here??

Yes the car will be going too because I'll be getting company wheels. I won't be selling that immediately though and will likely have relatives deal with it once I'm over there.

TBH I really doubt its economical to ship the car to the states, expect between £1500-2000. Aren't there that many STi's in the states? Your on the right side of Japan in distance terms so I expect you'd have a wider choice and would also be a little lighter on the wallet.

The car isn't actually worth that much, maybe £6k if I'm lucky but I've had some damn good times in it and its taken me up and down the country. More sentimental than anything.

oh wow :cannotbe:

I think the only suck thing about this is you didn't get to enjoy the system as much as you should. But hey, a better career = more toys!!! 😉

I really hope the perceives go to a well deserved home. 🙂

I was thinking about that and it wouldn't take long before I'd bought something. TBH I've got to go over there take a look at rented accomodation and sort a shed load of things out like bank accounts, green card, financial commitments over here and so on. So I really doubt I'll be getting back in the game any time soon, more likely is me going commercial until I get settled.

Shin,

Congrats on the position!
Sorry to hear about selling all you work. People were asking earlier what you were going to do when the Perceives were done, and I guess you will have more to do. I can't imagine you not being able to sell the enclosures. Just as long as you post info in enough places. Do you speak german (I can say it in german, but I'm afraid of trying to spell it and insulting others by ruining the language)?

You can always keep 1 pair of drivers. 🙂 Just pack a pair of fullranges in your a suitcase.

Hope you can get settled in quickly, best of luck!
And oohhhh those trappist beers! :drink:

OT:I would just like to say, German's speak amazing english. When traveling in Europe I'm always so surprised as to how well Germans speak english.

Josh

Many thanks for the well wishes.

I hope we still hear from you even if you're not building. Congrats and all the best on your new job!

Will still be posting and keeping upto speed. Every other forum is boring in comparison to DIYA! 😀

Hell if you bet me I'll have something in the works before the year is out it'd will probably be a safe bet. Nothing as ambitious as the Perceives though. Best thing is they've got some kickass driver and component shops in Germany and surrounding countries 🙂
