Thread tidied. Sorry Alex, I should have got here earlier. Thylantir, behave. You know the rules.
Finished the enclosure section:
Now just the base/port and then listening can begin. I've got a feeling its going to be an intense experience in a 4m x 3m x 2.3m room 😀 Hope musically it can keep toe to toe with the frankly superb design Scott came up with.
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Hi
I don't think a project like that is ever really finished. They're finishing in terms of the cabinet but I keep comming back to tweak the XO, I think its pretty much the best I can do given the drivers and the DEQX. I'm just in the process of restarting my investigations into a viable PCXO and I hope to improve things even further if possible as I strongly believe the PC to hold more promise than the fairly limited DEQX.
The sub box is pretty large, I've ended up realising that the only real way to get what I want is to go larger. Looks pretty ugly IMO but I'm hoping its saving grace will be the performance and a lick of paint.
Holy Cr@p!
The completion time on this is almost what the last one was without a sawmill's assistance.
Looks good!
This may be a tacky thing to say, but I'd be real tempted to take it to an upholster to make a nice padded black leather foot rest out of it! 😀

Your project is moving too fast, if you finish early, then
what will you do in year 2007 for fun ?

He is making me a pair... for free right Shin? 😉

Shin,
your woodworking and attention to detail inspires me! I've got to get myself a new router and start building again. Been stairing at electrical schematics for too long 🙂

That's most kind of you to say but seriously I just tinker around in the shed like everyone else on here. But what I do is spend unhealthy amounts of time there too, its not uncommon for me to come in from work have a quick snack and then dissapear in the shed until 10 at night(I'd stay longer but we have neighbours who don't appreciate all the noise). I enjoy the woodworking just as much as I enjoy listening to music whereas for some its a means to an end I see it as just as gratifying as hooking it all up after its done.
I'm not a great woodworker but I just keep trying until I get it right, you only see the stuff that did go OK, naturally there's also a great pile of scrap that didn't go so OK 🙂

Yeah, I felt a little robbed on the last project so cut the stuff myself this time.
It has come together pretty quickly but I've hit a couple of problems with the base and more specifically, smoothing the turns in the port. I know what I gotta do but its just taking a bit of time.
My original intention was for a TV stand/potted plant 😀 stand so the footrest thing wouldn't work too good.

Not sure really. Will have to see how much longer I the Perceives hold my attention. I fancy trying some line arrays but just don't have the space or acoustics to do a large design justice.
I do know that my next project will be two small 1cuft subwoofers with each featuring an XLS10 driver. The aim of these will be to smooth room nodes and will only really operate from 30-35hz up.which is just below the point where my room dimensions start to cause problems(40hz up).

Nearly finished Josh. The table broke again though and they got mashed so I'm having to start from scratch again 😉 😀

I don't know - I've parked my feet on potted plants and tv's before. 😀
Hmm, but a leather potted plant - I'd only go for that if it was "hemp". ..And a leather TV stand is a little to "spank my swank" - best to go with the paint lest some lass brought home on a friday night gets the wrong idea. 😉

Oh, I'm not even going try to touch that one (..the munter or the statement).

Ha ha. I actually laughed out loud when I read this.

Well Shin, if you take too long I won't send you that case of St. Bernardus, a personal favorite thanks to the high gravity bar in Atlanta.
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
m0tion,
I can't decide if he should send it to my dorm room or not.
