What tools do you use to cut out your bracing? I have used jig saw and table saw, niether with great results. For table saw the blade is raised to full hight (3.75" or so), but you can still see the little slits on 1 side where the bottom of the blade goes a bit further. While the jigsaw... not perfectly straight, maybe a guide would help, but...

edit: Looking at the last picture, it looks like you have a clamping guide holding the sides, I have that guide as well, perhaps that is what I need to use when cutting out bracing.

After initially cutting using the table saw, the bracing was then cut free hand with a jigsaw. A bit of practice, a good blade and its possible to get straight cuts. If you setup the guide it would take a good while to do all those.
Not that how clean the cuts really matters when you're doing bracing, other than for the asthetics of your "construction pictures".

Somebody has to ask..... What kind of display do you have and will it be effected by the magnetic field from those four beautiful woofers??

Agreed.
But can't see the point when you consider that there's virtually zero effort between a neat cut and one that looks like a dogs hind leg. I guess its all down to the individual and whatever works for you.

Hi Nate
The screen is an LCD type which aren't affected by the fields. Although the screen housing may vibrate and buzz a little so could have to isolate it if that turns out to be a problem.

Not particularly impressed. Build quality is below the B&C and things like venting the pole through some holes drilled below the dustcap seem a bit amateur compared to the lovely great flared affair on the B&C. There's also a lot of slightly rough pressed metal work on the motor and basket, whereas the B&C was all machined. The B&C's really feel like you could hammer them and they'd still be fine, the XLS don't inspire that same confidence.
I do like the basket design on the XLS which is better than the one on the B&C though.
Other than that I haven't tried the XLS's at all, not even free air. I normally run drivers in but everything is a bit of a mess at the moment. I guess the first time I hear them will be in the cabinet.

Pushed on a little further this evening and I found my roundover bit! Sadly I'd already installed half the bracing but doing the other half won't hurt.

Looks pretty nice, I'm interested to see the results of this design. I'm expecting good things. Very neat idea to place the TV on the sub, I have all of my equipment in a cabinet underneath my TV and constantly wish it was in a tiered rack instead.

Little more done this evening.
I'm really pleased with the driver cutouts, I was working blind so to speak as the holes had to come out in the exact correct position in order to meet up with the driver magnet braces. Fitting 4 x 10's was tight as you can see by how close they're spaced! All in all it was textbook stuff so my hat goes off to CorelDraw for helping me nail all the small details without incident.
Seeing all those driver cutouts made me realise that I'm really looking forward to getting this going. Hopefully another week or two will see the construction finished at this rate.
