I fully agree with Ralf. Scanspeak is no longer related to Tymphany. Since 2014 the company belongs to Eastech, Eastern Asia Technology (HK) Limited. Datasheets and distortion plots reveal that there must be a difference in the motor system of the tweeters from Vifa/Peerless/Tymphany and Scanspeak.

Vifa XT25TG30-04 (TYMPHANY - VIFA XT25TG30-04 (Tweeter 1", 4 Ohm, 150 Wmax))

Scanspeak R2604/832000 (SCAN SPEAK R2604/832000 (Tweeter 1", 4 Ohm, 150 Wmax))

Oh snaps 4 😱
I shouldn't have seen that

I think path's information was very interesting
It's Mexico right?
But you know some Americans say Chinese stuff is crap, but they're buying/demanding pretty cheap stuff, aka crap.
Chinese technology is 5-10 years ahead of US I hear in most respects.

I see that with auto parts, you think it has the same stuff even part numbers, but the end result is different due to quality control or other factors.

Let's have a look at the datasheets:

The Vifa datasheet of the XT25TG30-04 originally specifies a voice coil height of 2.2 mm in a gap of 3.2 mm (Xmax 0.5 mm).

Tymphany apparently has increased the gap in the meantime to 3.5 mm (Xmax 0.65 mm) or they just measure differently. BTW, they also have changed Sd in the datasheet from 5.4 cm^2 (correct) to 8.2 cm^2 (wrong).

Scanspeak went in the opposite direction and reduced the gap to 2.5 mm (Xmax 0.15 mm, specified 0.2 mm). Surprisingly Scanspeak's modification seems to work better (lower distortions at low frequencies). The gap is smaller but the magnet field obviously is more symmetrical.
