Speakerbits does have a shopfront and it is a proper retail premises, not an apartment. The address is 3/70 Gladstone Street in South Melbourne, opposite the Ford Dealership.
Speakerbits is run by Tom Manning who used to be the OEM manager for Scan Audio and one of the most respected guys in the business to deal with.
I too had to choose between the Shiva and the XLS for our S300 series of kits and went with the XLS for a number of reasons relating to supply and commercial stability.
The Shiva has the edge on the XLS for raw performance but the XLS is a more stable product (Shiva's are up to their 3rd or 4th version already) and Peerless is an easier brand for me to do business with.

I like the look of your new 300 sub, which model is the Redgum amp? Im assuming that it is the RGSW1?
Also, on the stability of the XLS, how long has the XLS been out compared to the Shiva?

I'm not actually sure how long the XLS has been out, at least 2 years though. My concerns about the Shiva relate more to using it in a manufactured product rather than for a DIY project. If you are building a DIY sub then who cares if the specs change between models and who cares if the supplier can keep stock in or meet obligations provided you can get one.
As a manufacturer, though, these issues become important and I have always found Tom at Speakerbits to be extremely professional to deal with and helpful to a newcomer like me. I can only hope that Wes Components, the new Australian distributors of DST product (Vifa/Scan/Peerless), are as good to deal with as he was.
Before the float comes the launch of our two new shops, one in Perth and one in Sydney. Keep an eye out for details over the next few months on the website.

guys just one note...
275 or 300W or whatever is thermal. if you are designing a speaker to go to 30Hz then 300W at 30Hz is something else.
Xmax limits woofer more than thermal capability so check the Xmax.
Also this 10",12",15" thing is more compliacted that one thinks.
I noticed that as one increases the Mms of the driver I get better defined bass and few extraHz at the lower end but also slower bass (given the same magnet assembly). so actually one is jugling Bl/Mms ratio (the bigger the faster the bass the lower the lower the F3 all things remaining equal), Xmax (the bigger the more the bass, the less the more sensitive the driver -again all things remaining equal), etc..
I have had great bass using a 18" in a bass reflex box, 2 12" in a sealed box, etc.. one has to consider the design and application. The sub is only part of the system.
