The amp can sustain higher voltages as all the transistors are at least 160V rated....what is the maximum DC voltage allowed? +- 50V is the absolute maximum?
But we have PCB real-estate for only two pairs of the power trannies. Using higher voltages may put them on the border of their safe operating area in case load impedance takes a dip, unless more pairs are used.
So yes. For this amp I would say +/-50V is absolute max.
Can't wait any longer. I added HRDSTL also

Not in this one.
Three reasons.
No space. No space. No space.
Actually, unlike pure EF OPS this one's drivers can't be mounted on main HS due to it being CFP/sziklai. Two OPs are apparently the max load the driver can manage, and that with local small heatsinks which got pretty hot during sustained 100W sine into 5R (more on that coming in the setup guide).
Maybe in V6.

I couldn't agree more. 🙂 Too much fun to have and too little time!Arrrgh, Agonizing, so many amps, so many DAC's, so many pre's, so many speakers, so much to learn, and so little time to build as we age🤣. It's never about the money, always about the time. Will have to think about this one, as I need to build the V4H also. Shouldn't have to think to long😉
Sent from Mexico (winter get away).

The design as it stands will suit me just fine - will run lower DC rails at 35VDC to give 75W into 8R - less stress on the components as well.
Hi shaan,
I am placing an order soon with Mouser for some parts I need and would like to add to that order the parts I do not have for this V5 build. At this stage, have you changed, added to or modified the design as shown in the schematic at post #1?

Good news shaan, will not be ordering till next week - looking forward to your new details, thanks again.
First post has been updated with info on all the mods done in the revision.
Thanks everyone for your interest. After the latest update I hope more people will be interested in the V5.Gary S - 2 boards - Aus
