PCB for Aleph P 1.7 preamplifier

Hello,

When I was serviceing the BELL stage amplifier, I saw the transformer ( dual split bobbin over 500 VA) that is installed in it.
It looked very unusual for that size.

Also, the Technics use them in their SU-C1000 preamplifier, but they are small.

I tried to find some dual split bobbin transformers, but I did not have any luck.

------

Does anyone tried to anodize heatsinks in clear blue (transparent) color ?
Is there any company in the Europe that sell them already colored, or provide service of blue color anodizing ?
What about DIY anodizing, is it possible for blue color, anyone tried it ?

Off topic to some extent but...

The Selectronic web site is strange code so I can not give direct links but it's almost like English (...) so go for Catalogue en ligne (Catalogue on-line), then click the little fella and choose Par Famille (by family) button at the top. Transformers and then type 'R'. Should get you there.

A picture would be this if it is what you are after:

Hello,

Try to use 10 - 15 C/W per device, and everything should be fine.
Also, the bigger heatsinks will not hurt either.

On the other way, it is even possible to not use the heatsinks.
That way you can mount the devices on the bottom side of the PCB, and then all together on the chasis - that will also serve as a heatsink.
But with this way you must be prepared for increased
temperature of the enclosure.
I tried this, it's working very well, but you be shure not to use the Letters C with this way.

With 56 V power supply, the Aleph 1.7 will work ok, but if you can, try to use 60 V, like Mr.Pass originaly used.
I would use 56 V only as a last option.

You can use 1/2 power supply of the BLS preamplifier, just increase the rating of the transformer to 100 VA or so, per one channel.
Little increasements of power supply capacitors is also desireable.

Psu of Aleph 1.7 with chokes

Fellow Aleph P 1.7 builders,

I would like to built my Alpeh with a seperate enclosure for the PSU. I have had excellent result from using chokes in several PSU that i built.

Now to decide what choke I can use, I need to know how much current the Aleph 1.7 draws (per channel) from the PSU. Does somebody know this? I looked here, but couldn't find the answer... Also, will the inruch current be very high?

Also, where should I place the chokes? Between the 1000 uF caps right after the rectifiers and before the voltage regulation? If I would put them after the voltage regulation, the 60V would drop a few volts, is this a problem?

Thanks for anwers!

Lucas

Assuming you haven't seen the circuit it draws about 40mA per channel.

Conventinal thinking would suggest that a choke following the regulator will substantially negate regulation.

You can certainly try an unregulated, choke filtered supply

Fwiw i think the P1.0 sounds better anyway.
