Hi everyone

Please find pictures of my latest project, I have grown very tired of the poor pc cases available these days, even Lian cases have their issues !! so my project was to fit a pc into a hifi2000 rack case .. so at least it would look good in my front room, so instead of making a power amplifier I made a pc instead.

Its a quad core 3.2Ghz i7 has 2 SSD under the chassis and one 1tb drive for data. I use this for music (jriver18) and plays BlueRay discs using powerDVD 13 .. I have listed the construction photo by photo

I am really pleased with it as one point I nearly gave up, also I have no overheating issues at all.

so pic below of the main chassis being developed

what do you all think ?? also please note that brown and blue wires underneath are 12v not mains !! the 12v is used to power external CD optical drives etc. I have ripped my cd collection in wav via DP poweramp (which does tag wav files) and plays very good through Jriver18

Hi

Thanks again for the comments, the Graphics card is a HIS5500 1g DDR5 mem, as I had this card kicking around and the design spec was not a games machine.

How ever I was surprised how well this card with a i7 4 core cpu performed better then I expected. Most older Games run fine .. I am playing heroes over Europe with the settings set to high in 1080p at approx 40 frames per second. It plays all movies including Blueray etc, and the main use high res music files, on this build I was limited by the height, but I have just noticed you can get a ATI5770 in the low height spec now.

Watch this space for my next build in a rack case ... also I may try a version with off board water cooling in a separate rack case

Thanks again and a happy DIY audio Christmas to all

regards

Nick

Hello all

Just a update on my PC project, I have just completed a matching optical blue-ray drive to match the PC case. It uses a standalone power supply +12and +5 volts. this difficult part was to match the center slot to the drive position before drilling any mounting holes for the drive. I have using Esata connection to the master pc.

The relay is for remote switching (wife friendly) when the drive see's 12v from the main pc the drive starts up, just in case the master power switch may be off. What do you all think?

Hi

Also today I thought the drive was slightly off level, looks OK now after some careful shimming adjustments (washers 🙂 )

I will upload some more pics when in use with the master PC .. going to use Cyberlink 14 ultra

regards
