Hello Roushan
What size of sheet do you buy.Do you need to buy the whole sheet or small pieces are available. what about finishing of the sheet when you purchase.
And Bombay cutters, Is their cutting properly right angled without any side or corner bends, What type of machinery do they use. hand cut sheets using big scissors used by local cutter is a big headache, all the sides are even bent and never in right angle.
Can you tell the size and thickness of sheet you bought for front panel and how much weight it would have been.
It will be big help if you post some pics.
Thank you.
Hi Viki,
I just noticed this old post of yours which
I did not reply, as I was away from internet for
quite sometime.
There are many different sizes and
thicknesses of sheets available. For example if you need
some small size several pieces then he will give
you a suitable big piece from which you have to
get cut from somewhere (Bombay cutter). I never
needed to purchase unnecessarily big size sheet, he
always manages to give an optimal size. Last time
I got 4mm sheet and got it cut small sizes like
4in x 15in, 15in x 12in etc from Bombay cutter. The
cutting are very fine, no corner bend or anything, Bombay
cutter has a big machine which they operate by
foot and it cuts fantastic. Best is to visit them once and
see.
Roushon.

Hello friends,
I had a talk with a person into metal works. He has agreed to get complete required metal cabinet made including powdercoating and screen printing. if you wish you can talk to him directly. His name is Mr. Hemant Deshpande. you can contact him on. 91-9823168168.

Hi Aucosticraft,
Thanks for this valuable information. I hope I had known this before, I just
got cut all the aluminium pieces, only need to make the holes and fixing. It
is for an input selector (including power selector) and phono preamp.
Is the person from Mumbai? I hope that is the case.

sorry, Roushan. this person is from pune. I have talked to him about this forum and requirements. He is excited about the DIYers making such a good system. Also he is ok if you need the help of courier. But you can always talk to him.
Ferrite bead
Does anyone know where can I find Ferrite bead in Mumbai
or online in cheap rate? I found some in Lamington road,
but these are small diode-like and 1-2amp rating. Looking
for the cylindrical type which can slip over the cable (as we
find on computer cables).
Thanks
Roushon.

Look for a dead laptop power supply - I got a cylindrical ferrite from a
HP laptop power brick.

Thanks! Actually this way I got 4 cylindrical ferrite
beads from old computer cables I purchased from
Lamington Road footpath. But this turns out to be very
expensive. For a single ferrite I need to pay Rs 75/- or so
as it comes with the chord. I need about 30 to 50 pieces but
smaller size.

For doing what...
Gajanan Phadte
This is to use on the (DC) power lines for cleaner supply in
audio application...
Electronic chokes for the tube light will have them.
Gajanan Phadte
Thanks Gajanan! That is a good advice. I will see..

Hi Guys,
its nice reading this thread i am searching for 42IF201, 4IF203 455 Khz IF transformers, i have visited some shops like , AMAR, R K Radio electronics and some more shops on LR. Electronics. but no one having it or i dont know exact part number which will be available. i am trying to build 283Khz to 325 Khz DGPS beacon receiver...........

Mahesh, why do you need a specific part number ? 455kHz IFT is a pretty generic thing. and where will you be using the DGPS ? afaik there is no DGPS signal transmitted in India ?

Hi YajnaS,
i dont have very much knowledge about radio systems, i am hobbyest and playing with MCU etc. i have done only 3 project on radio systems and that is also 10 years before. now everything skipped out of mind , please suggest appropriate part number which i can use in my project.
DGPS : Yes, there are 18 DGPS Operation station in India which transmit radio beacons on 283-325Khz , we dont have any NTRIP DGPS station in India so we need to depend on MARITIME RTCM SC104 BEACONS.
as per my knowledge we have two DGPS Stations on west cost near Mumbai 1) Uttan - NEar Bhaindar 2) Ratnagiri Fort Light House.
I dont know what kind of correction accuracy they are offering so i just want try it out .
if you want to buy some component like Transistors and IC you can go shop opposite Chip Component i am not remembering name but I think its Riki or Rinki something like that
You can get TV, Monitor component very easily in this shop
IF you want buy something related DVD, MP3 go to R.K

You should be able to salvage an IFT from an old
AM radio.
You may be able to find IF filters too, either locally or on ebay.
Or you can make a filter using a ladder of cheap 455khz ceramic resonators.
Amateur radio technical experiments
On an aside, those old mechanical filters were pretty cool.

Hi Qaudtech,
i have some 30-40 IFT laying around me some are with numbers written on them , basically i used to identify them using colors Yellow, White, black and green but in never need to care about impedance and all . i dont know whether selecting them by colors means matching them with part number color which i required.
the project basic idea is receive 283 Khz to 325 Khz frequency decode Digital DGPS data from it, i found only two project online and that was build before 11 years ago. now technology had change lot now a days we are using Single IC to receive AM as well as FM signal with very less component.
my knowledge about radio receivers is almost none. can some one advice me how can i accomplished this using ordinary transistorized receiver by putting some jump wires in different stages or can advice me how to minimize component count. most of the component used in this project are absolute now.
here is some description about IFT
42IF201
Frequency Range: 455 KHz
Primary Impedance: 50 KOhms
Secondary Impedance: 500 Ohms
42IF203
Frequency Range: 455 KHz
Primary Impedance: 20 KOhms
Secondary Impedance: 5 KOhms
is all generic IFT come with same specification or i need to modify it. i am searching for MC145157P2, ordering from ebay or element14, RS is not option they took lot of time for delivery and importing component in India is hectic job due to All Indian Customs Process. i have very bad experience with element 14(Kitsnspare in India) i have ordered some component from them and its more than 2 months still they have not delivered it,
i think i will have more fun building the receiver , but i need advice from all you experts

I am a newbie here and don't know if this has been posted before - for those looking for toroidal transformers, Toroidal Transformers, Goregaon East, very close to the gates of the Film City, makes them to your specs. Contact person: Dayanand: 9833429845. I got a 230 VA, 24-0-24V from him recently for a MyRef amp build.
