Hallo I have two Aleph 3 and I want to drive Magnepans 1.7 (impedance 4 ohm, flat, resistive but inefficient). This speaker has only one set of binding post, it doesn't permit biamping.
I know that the Aleph is optimized for 4 ohm loads (it delivers on that load 55w but not enough for the Maggies).
Is it a wise move to parallel each amp?
What will I gain?
What I lose?
Is this configuration changing the input characteristics of each amp?
Thanks

yes , you can put two channels in parallel
just feed both inputs with same signal , and connect channel outputs in parallel
maybe , for better sleep , you can put 0R1 in series with each output , then parallel them ...... but it will work even without that

Thanks, but:
1) will I gain something useful to better drive the Maggies?
2) will I have more distortion with the Aleph?
thanks again.

1. trust your own ears (you'll double power in 4 ohms)
2. no ,contrary to that
that sort of connection is covered by Papa in F4 manual

You won't gain much at all. 2 of these in parallel will still just give you 60W output into 4 ohms. The distortion may be just a little less but I doubt you would notice it.
This is the problem: it is technically possible to do (no harm) but it seems I don't have any advantage. I expected more power or current useful to better drive Magnepans....

Magnepans go lower than 4 Ohms. That is the problem here.
In my opinion parralleling should certainly help in this instance.
