Mine too.
This is really an issue !
Did you check em all ?
Found some 40s as well.
Birger ?

+ 1. (Most of the 327s [~90%] were -25s])
Interestingly, the 327/327-40s I had bought from Reichelt "back when",
measure near the lowest permissive numbers (250 for -40s ) . Mostly around 275 or around 300 !🙄
(Measured with Atlas DCA55 , handled with plastic rather than metal tweezers)
Seems I have to get me some more 327-40s and 337-40s , too.

Atlas I noticed mesure a bit low
To bread board the 5 Vcircuit published by hesensr takes 5 minutes
I mesured the ones I have with that and IMO that is a good reference for all
I have loads of BC327-40 well over 520 my batch of BC337 is mostly around the 500 mark
If you get stuck Just PM
Likewise;of the 327's 109 of them were 25's and some resistors short;but there no big deal should have some in the parts bin.
Did someone say that Diotec were likely to be a better match between 327 and 337?I see Conrad has these.

I have been asked for same hi Hfe BC327 as I have few undreds above Hfe 540 and once I got My Paradise built I will not need them I am happy to help
I would apreciate if MPP pannel (Joachim, Hessener, Fdw, and ones I skip to mention)
fix a fair price
The transistors are matched using the 5V circuit as published at 20 C wheter permitting as I work in cold loft was 13C yesterday.
So temperature will trow spanners in the works but I can try to match all batches at same time and the batches will then be ok

I - fortunately - bought 40s from the first group buy! All nicely taped.🙂 But the vast majority of those delivered with the "kit" are also 40s.

Is just pot luck from Fairchild data sheet >
hFE Classification
Classification 16 25 40
hFE1 100 ~ 250 160 ~ 400 250 ~ 630
hFE2 60- 100- 170
So BC327-40 are in speck with HFE between 250 and 630
I was luky to get the PNP so hi not so luky with NPN as those are mostly in the 500 range

BkSabbath,
...I really do appreciate you sharing your experiences with the test-circuit.
I'll try that later on. In the meantime I'm trying to get me some other 327/337-40s. I think that the Atlas may not be too wrong as a mean of "grouping" the transistors , if it measured too low, it'd probably measure them all too low*--and after all they won't "go rotten by laying around" 😉
................I'm not in a hurry building my Paradise.
Greez & Thanks

* I've handled them all with plastic tweezers -- they were at "room's temperature" ( ~20-21° C, that is)
Most of my 327-25 (and -40s!) measured between 296 and 317 Hfe; most of my 337-40s measured between 433 and 463 with the 327's spread more closer than that of the 337s.

Help!
I did my check gain measurements (breadbord 5Vdc by Hesener).
In fine:
BC337 (NPN),
10% with Hfe 480 ... 500
90% with Hfe 500 ...540
BC327 (pNP),
quasi 100% Hfe between 320 ... 350
Quid: matching possible between BC327 & BC337 ?!
(Deus ex machina)
Thanks for some input (experiences).

I be happy to swap same of yours hi BC337-40
with same of mine hi BC327-40
but probably there are many builders near you that can do the same
SigFire
About Atlas agree with you as mean of matching is perfect and prety quick
Litle circuit need time to setle and is temperature dependent but it makes very easy to see what is going on
If you have Atlas mesure a couple of transistors to get taste for difference then carry on with Atlas
If you dont have Atlas no big deal as circuit does the job
