Yes I’ve done a few small scale GB’s and whilst I enjoyed the idea of people having something nice for me it was all work and very little thanks.
I hardly ever heard back when a build went well but if there was a problem then it all came back.

one question about the RIAA caps.
i havt the custom V-Caps, means only one Cap with the needed values of 33nF and 11nF
i think they should be connected like this:
green: "positive" Side of the Cap
Blue: "negative" Side of the Cap
am i right?

I've built my prereg boards but the transformers are noisy.
May be I've done a mistake?
Anybody can take a look of the pictures.
The boards are for 230V and have about 42V on the output without load.

no, regarding your pictures, you build it proper.

Some builders here in germany experienced more
or less the same.
After crossing out any external influence (DC for example)
i decided to ask Block (the manufacturer of those blue thingies)
about this issue.
Prior to do so i took a look @ the datasheet trying to find out
how much noise is allowed in the specs.
To my surprise, mechanical noise (hum) is not even mentioned !
First worthwile information i got, was "A transformer who do not hum is defective"
!?! 😕
We agreed on i've to send them one channel of the prereg
and they will test it in their lab.
Reply:
"No audible hum !",
but: "if there is any, it should be a result of the excessive
coils (inductors) build in this circuit."
(I've got a lab-report on that)
Sadly, it happened to be, they've ain't got any example of my
production lot in their stock anymore.
After another few of E-mails and telephone calls we agreed to
trade the exchanged (Hummy) and the rest of my stock for
another production lot.
They are not even as half as loud, but still not really quiet.
Conclusio;
If there is any issue regarding this, try to find out how to fix it best.
The choices are;
1st:
If you are in Germany/Europe, you can send me your "Hummers"
and i will send you the better ones in return. But remember, my
stock is not endless !
2nd:
If you are located outside of europe, you can try the same.
but the shipping cost might probably exceed the worth of parts.
Therefore it might be cheaper to buy those in your corner of the world
and proceed to step 3 .
3rd:
Try your luck in contacting the manufacturer by yourself.

If this is true (and the above is sort of a question 🙂) then it should be possible to dampen it. Most probably by adding a small resistance in series with the transformer (before and after the coils should be tried).
For the size of this resistor (in this experiment) I would say 5 Ohm to start with.

This is not what i call funny !
Also, if this hum is there with no current flowing (naked transformer connected to the net) then it (most probably) is a DC-component of the net. Use a DC blocker, see Mains DC and Transformers
