These were truly outstanding in a different league to 99% of what was at Munich this year. Anyone know anything about how these ribbons work. I always quite liked Apogees and had a pair of maggies a long time ago. The only full range lacking nothing panels I’ve ever heard

Tks, Seems he has managed to solve the efficiency problems associated with the old Apogees and achieve full range
I call them Apogees done right. A friend in Albany NY has had a pair of the previous incarnation from Daniele which I've heard a number of times. They were driven to plenty loud levels by 50 watts - and can do just fine by 20 to 30 watts of tubes.
Never heard such "delicacy" from a speaker. And PRODIGIOUS bass - proper placement critical to mitigate overloading the room.

I think if you have a stretched foil on a frame it will be difficult to reach a +/- 20mm Xmax
Also if you connect the bass ribbon only at the top and bottom FS wil be very low so that you have no hi Q peak above 20Hz like Apogee and Magnepan

This video says the bass panel is attached on all 4 sides. It's from Mono & Stereo, so I assume he's relaying information gleaned from the manufacturer (or what he's directly observing).Did you see that or do you think that.

i wonder mostly about there insane Xmax how that works. since a foil witch moves mostly in the middle, but with high excursion it will tension the foil and created a higher resonance at its x max. i wonder how that translates in distortion or what happens in the resonance measured at low volume compared to high. to me having less excursion and more surface area would address those problems better.. but where is the limit. how much excursion is nice and what is to much ?
it is nice there last combo is at least symmetrical, tweeter in the middle bass on the sides. i thought all there panels where the classic tweeter on the side versions, so this meight be 2 panels combined ? hopefully with one tweeter disabled

Perhaps, the design target was the nonlinear behaviour of membrane (progressive stiffness).
