olympus vp-1 needs lamp alternative - please!

I have a really good (xga) and small projector with dvi input... it's great... but the lamp is now out!

I'd like to trick this projector into thinking it has a good lamp, and put some other lamp in it...

Can someone tell me how?

OOPS... the projector is an olympus vp1 - now out of production, but it's a GREAT projector (very small) - it's really a shame that a simple lamp can make it obsolete!

If anyone figures out how to do a retrofit for the lamp or at least how to make it turn the image on, please post it here.

HOW DO I TRICK THE BALAST ON A POLAROID POLAVIEW 350I

Hi, everyone
i have a Polaroid polaview 350i projector.
i would like to trick the ballast into thinking there is a working bulb.

a lot of people are saying that there is three wires coming out of ballast, +5 volts, signal & ground.

i do see a small plug coming from the ballast to the main board,
one wire is brown and the other two are Grey.

if these are the wires that people are talking about, what do i set my digital meter on, i have one of those cheap red one`s from harbor freight?

what two wires do i jump?

do i leave the connection plugged into the main board?

do i cut the two wires that i`m suppose to jump?

what is the difference between a UHP & UHB bulb

Hi everyone,
my polaview 350 projector uses a 150 watt UHP or UHB bulb,
i was wondering if someone can tell me the difference.

which one is better.

how do i know if it is AC or DC volts.

never mind i found out how to jump the balast

i found out my self how to jump the balast and retrofit my lamp, it is almost brighter than the original bulb.
good trick.

Anyone happen to know an equivalent bulb for the Olympus VP-1 (aa PLUS V1100z)
I'd rather replace the bulb with 120w bulb rather than try to spend the money on a lamp assembly.
