There's quite a few 6.5" midrange pro drivers out there....and most will play quite comfortably in your range. Besides costs, some things to consider would be the distortion profiles, first cone break up and sensitivity. I mentioned the B&C 6md38 earlier as an option. It's been 3rd party tested here.
Zaph|Audio
As you can see, response is quite smooth and distortion is excellent.
As for using with a dome tweeter, to keep power handling balanced, you might want to cross a little higher to protect the dome tweeter if you plan on really pushing this system. There's a few 95db domes out there that can hang with this midwoofer if crossed steep 2.5khz or higher.....the Vifa DX25 and SBAcoustics SB29 come to mind so no padding of the midrange would be required. Considering half baffle step for a 95db mid, even a dome with 92db efficiency could be used.
There's some pretty efficient ribbons out there that can fit in with your plans too.....and some are very affordable. I've used the Fountek NeoCd2 and love it.

It should be similar to f3b however with changes in the crossover because the f3b sounded me littlibit colored and i missed the baffle step compensation( I have checked and it is no there).
With the BC midrange I have the similar problem as with 18sound(8 dont like the shape) but it can be solved easier. Can it be crossed at 250Hz and 2kHz? The 605nd was also clear sounding in f3b however I am not sure that the coloration is coming from the midrange or the missing baffle step compensation.

The f3b baffle is narrow so that design would require additional baffle step compensation to remain flat. The B&C can be crossed as low as 200hz and as high as 3.5khz with a steep slope. I don't like the shape either so I installed it from inside the baffle with a chamfer. The 605nd appears to have a rising response tilt unlike the B&C. I believe of you listened to both side by side by themselves with no crossover, you would prefer the B&C.
80 euro?! at madisound, the price is 80 usd! There you go:
Audax PR170MO Professional woofer, replaces MHD 17 HR 37 RSM, MHD 17 HR 37 TSM, PR 17 HR 37, PR 17 HR 60,PR 17 HR 70, PR 17 HR 100
They say 'in stock' but not how many.
The Madisound Speaker Store
euh wait, it was 80$ like 4 month ago, now it went up to 100$. still, amazing driver.
hi, You should look at the 101 db audax pr170. it is never mentionned. It was recommended by the quite trustable Thorsten Loesch to me, and its really a good driver. natural, unfatiguing, dynamic, everything I wanted. It is decided. I have had a possibility to buy 2 pieces of 1 year old unboxed 12LX60V2 for 80EUR/piece. The next step is choose the midrange. Originally I have considered the 6nd430 however it is little bit a n ugly driver (It is going to the living room and does not fit well) so I need to find something with comparable parameters and acceptable design. What do you think about Beyma 605ND? Do you have experience with this driver?
I am searching for driver which can be crossed at 250-300Hz and usable up to 2kHz.
Do you think is it a good idea to use a dome tweeter like Millenium or DXT in combination of these drivers (maybe not enough Max SPL). Originally I was tinking about TPL150 however it is very expensive. Also I am thinking about to use some compression drive with eliptical or square horn (Celestion or BC). What do you think about this option?
you can use the audax from 250/300hz up to 5khz without much problem. just a thought.

the PR170 has 95db/wm between 400hz and 1khz. Only at a peak at ~ 3khz, it has 100db/wm......
well yeah, the 100 db is optimistic, its 97-98db, not 95db. still, a GREAT driver. you can read this thread

In test on Zaph Audio the 6ND430 was on tje better position than BC but probably I will choose the BC and will install ot from inside or cover it.
Where I van buy Audax, and which one you recommend z0, m0 or n0 version? What are the differences?

I use the mo, this is what thorsten recommends. I would go for the mo, I think the difference is the surround, not sure.In test on Zaph Audio the 6ND430 was on tje better position than BC but probably I will choose the BC and will install ot from inside or cover it.

Which tweeter will fit to these midranges (PT170M0 or BC)? Millenium is OK? Which one you use? Maybe the DXT is an other option.
hey, I use the supertweeter audax pr120. but yeah, its discontinued... its from the 80'sWhich tweeter will fit to these midranges (PT170M0 or BC)? Millenium is OK? Which one you use? Maybe the DXT is an other option.
Thorsten Loesch recommended to maybe use a ribbon with the pr170. I use the pr120 crossed around 5khz, but ideally, maybe, you could try a ribbon crossed around 3.2khz...
There are two suggestions from the autor of these boxes( hifi.slovanet.sk :: Zobrazi tému - Reprosústavy "Scott-Heron" ):
1. to use 8inch midrange (BC or 18sound) with 8inch horn
2. to use 6inch midrange (probably 6mdn44) with approx.110-140°horn
1. Which solution is better in your opinion?
2. Can you recommend me a horn with good parameters?
3. Which driver you recommend DE250, DE400 or other?

It has been replaced on the classics design kit pro33/pro24 using the PR17 HR by the Fostex FT17H.

These look like really great speakers. The waveguides look like EOS designs.
The waveguides are key in those designs. Don't expect similar results with out the waveguides.
A flush mounted 8" can match to a 8" EOS waveguide like the XT120 or the 10" SEOS10. The DE250 is a classic choice.
Actually with those designs it is not so much about the drivers, it is more about the crossover design which is not your typical crossover design.
Constant directivity designs are focused on accurately matched polar response between the midbass and the CD and those designs work best with large diameter midbass and low crossover points (depended on baffle, waveguide and midbass driver size usually below 2000Hz)
There is a ready made kit with great reviews using the B&C 8PS21 the Denovo EOS8 waveguide (which is a clone of the18sound XT120) and the Denovo 205 CD which is a B&C DE10 clone Alpha-8 Minion - Alpha Series - Waveguide Speaker Kits DIY Sound Group
The B&C 8PS21 and the DE12 are the drivers Earl Geddes uses in his 8" Harper speaker.
Hope that helps.
If a 6-8" midrange were chosen, I'd look towards a ribbon/planer tweeter over compression. Drivers and waveguides for the reasons mentioned above....and...in my opinion only, well made ribbons used properly sound better than waveguide CD combos.
Another choice could be tje TPL150 however I dont like the vertical directivity. If I not sit directly on the tweeter level the sound is totally changed....and it is expensive. Probably I will try the XT120+DE250 and 8PS21 combination. I will use miniDSP, I think it helps a lot to tune the crossover. One think about the miniDSP is that I have heard that it has higher noice level of the outputs. With high sens. Speakers ir can be a problem.
After few days of searching on the net, there is one other option: 8CX21. Which is better option:
8CX21 or 8PS21+DE250+XT120?
8CX21 or 8PS21+DE250+XT120?
So, there is my last 2 options. I will choose from tjes 2:
1. 12lx60v2+8ps21+de250/xt120
2. 12lx60v2+6nd430 or 6md38+seas dxt
is there anybody who have compared dxt with de250?

yes, thorsten recommend the fostex unit as a good match for the pr170 mid.It has been replaced on the classics design kit pro33/pro24 using the PR17 HR by the Fostex FT17H.

Pascal's great xover collection in post #73 lists the PR17 and PR170ZO but not the PR170MO.
Is there a known-good schematic for the PR170MO out there? Beuller, Beuller? 😕
between the 2 audax's the MO is easier to work with. In particular the ZO can be considerably better than the MO -IF- it is being driven by an amplifier with a high output impeadance, otherwise it sounds a little "constricted" (sometimes a LOT more constricted). (btw, it also takes a LOT longer to break-in.)...
